This needs it's own thread.
About fucking time we got new full-backs. Barrett and Pearce reporting they're as good as done too. We've got ourselves a sexy new back four, sexy Markovic, sexy Lallana, Emre (swoooooooon), and Raheem's gonna be the best player in the world. We'll probably win the Champions League as well as the League now.
So, are these two - Moreno & Manquillo - any good then?

Liverpool are closing in on deals for Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo, with hopes rising
that both players could be signed in the coming days.
Ian Ayre, the Liverpool chief executive, has travelled to Spain to conclude the transfers as
Brendan Rodgers continues to strengthen a squad that finished second in the Barclays Premier
League last season, but which must also cope with the loss of Luis Suárez to Barcelona.
Moreno has been Liverpool’s main target to fill the left-back role all summer, but negotiations
with Seville for the 22-year-old have proved difficult, with the Spanish club refusing to do
business for anything less than £20 million.
Liverpool have been unwilling to meet that asking price, which would represent a club record
for a full back, but are believed to have indicated that they would pay up to £16 million for
the Spain defender.
It is understood that a breakthrough has been made on valuation in recent days, hence Ayre’s
trip to Spain to try to bring negotiations to a successful conclusion. With José Enrique still
fighting for full fitness after a knee injury, Rodgers, the manager, regards the acquisition of a
high-quality left back as crucial.
Liverpool are also in the final stages of talks with Atletico Madrid as they seek to sign
Manquillo, a Spain Under-20 right back, on a two-year loan deal with the option of signing
him for a fee in the region of £5 million once that period has expired.
“We still have some positions that we want to fill within the squad, so by the end of August
we’ll have a strong squad to go forward with. We still have some business to do,” Rodgers
said yesterday, but despite having made six signings already this summer, he insists that
assimilating so many new recruits into his squad is not a risk. “We’ve brought in specific
players for specific roles, players who have the profile of how we work,” Rodgers said. “Of
course it will take them a bit more time than normal in terms of their induction, but the
transition has been very smooth.[/article]
Reds closing in double swoop for Spanish full-backs Moreno and Manquillo
Successful end to summer-long chase of Sevilla star would take close-season spending to over £100m

Liverpool FC are closing in on a double swoop for Spanish full-backs Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo.
The Reds have reopened talks with Sevilla over left-back Moreno and are confident their summer-long pursuit of the Spain international will finally reach a successful conclusion.
A deal for Atletico Madrid right-back Manquillo is at a more advanced stage with Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre having flown to the Spanish capital to complete the transfer.
Javier Manquillo
The 20-year-old is expected to sign initially on loan but the Reds will have an option to make the move permanent.
Securing the services of Moreno and Manquillo will delight boss Brendan Rodgers, who has been desperate to secure defensive reinforcements.
Moreno was always Liverpool's number one left-back target but negotiations with Sevilla stalled.
The Reds' initial offer of £16million back in May was rejected with the La Liga outfit holding out for in excess of £20million.
Sevilla's demands led to Liverpool looking at other options, including Swansea City's Ben Davies and Chelsea's Ryan Bertrand.
However, the Reds missed out on Davies because Swansea would only sell to Tottenham as the Welsh outfit wanted to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson as part of the deal.
Liverpool then targeted Bertrand and were willing to meet Chelsea's £8million valuation but the Londoners simply refused to sell to a club they view as Premier League title rivals.
Bertrand has now joined Southampton on a season-long loan and that has prompted the Reds to make another move for Moreno, who is understood to be keen on making the switch to Anfield.

Moreno, 22, shone in La Liga last season and helped Sevilla win the Europa League.
He came through the youth ranks at Sevilla and made his senior debut in April 2012.
Moreno, who made his Spain debut against Georgia in October 2013, was named in the provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup but failed to make the cut.
Madrid-born Manquillo started out in Real Madrid's youth system but was released in 2007 and signed for Atletico Madrid soon after.
He took his first-team bow for Atletico in December 2011 but has found his opportunities limited.
The deal for Moreno would take Liverpool's summer spending past the £100million mark.
The Reds have already completed deals worth around £87million for Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi.
