i think our biggest problem at the moment is the adam/lucas partnetship. its not good enuff against the better teams. neither of them are mobile enuff. parker & modric were having a field day even b4 adam got sent off. i think we need to be playing spearing until we get a good def midfielder. a midefield trio of gerrard (wen he is back) spearing and either lucas or adam with 3 upfront is our best option. all imho
I think this is a huge problem. when gerrard returns it should be adam that makes way for him.

Agreed.

We need a proper DM ... M'Vila or Matuildi are the ones we were most linked with. Never seen either, so really don't know if they fall under the 'proper DM' category.

X3 I really don't understand the Spearing stick. He's mobile, gets stuck in, can pass and has a good engine.

Thoughts on the game?

Nothing i haven't said before. Theres still a massive Alonso/Mascherano sized hole im the midfield that hasn't been filled with players anywhere near their level.

I said Meireles and Aquilani should have been sold with a top quality centre mid coming in...didn't happen and we're going to pay for it unless Stevie can rescue us once again.

Modric is ace.

-Skrtel is not a right back despite a few decent performances in that position prior to today.
-Coates is a replacement for Agger the papermache man, not Carra.
-Lucas and Adam are not strong enough of a central pairing.
-Suarez will get sent off some game soon
-Carroll is not as bad as some people make out but I am doubtful if he will ever be truly good enough
Oh dear. Not as bad?? ??? WHAT?? Just fucking WHAT??? ???

Fucking hell!

Fucking wake up boy. Please.
Glock, stop calljng people boy OK?. Its fucking condescending.

I give Spearing stick, because hes simply not good enough. However, he is a marked improvement on a midfield of Lucas and Adam - they have got to be the least mobile midfield partnership in the premiership.

Spearing should play next to Lucas rather than instead of as he lacks discipline to hold the midfield. He'll swan off chasing the ball leaving a massive fucking hole in the middle

P.s. he's not a natural dm, like Lucas he's been converted to one

Been saying for a while that Adam concerns me. Everything slows down with him in the team. Welcome to the site tiger as well

Ok, so there's a few worrying things emerging, not just from yesterday.

Kenny is definitely prone to that affliction many, if not all managers have, he can't see & therefore rectify his own mistakes on the pitch.

That in itself is fine, but not if you don't have other staff telling him he's fucked up & how to rectify it. Either Clarke or anyone else there couldn't see the problems, or they were relectuant to tell kenny. Either way it doesn't bode well.

Suarez needs a rest. He's blatantly tired, he reminds me of Torres & stevie when they're playing well & trying to force the play but the team isn't performing to their level. Combine that with the slightest mental fatigue & we all know the petulance, arguing with refs & other players as we've seen it before.

We need a plan B. I don't understand why we try to play the same way all game when it isn't working. That includes playing downing on the wrong side. If it isn't working, swap him to his natural side.

with RE: to the plan B thing

its shocking we don't have one

we played 6 months of sexy passing football, and now its just HOOF

Everyone is guilty of it. The defenders and the midfield. There is no desire to pass it along the ground recently. This could arguably be because we can't fucking move for love no money with our perpertually static midfield. Henderson doesn't run down channels, Adam doesn't run and lucas is meant to stay back and hold. Only one of the midfield who does move is downing and that cunt is trying his best all over the place

I honestly don't know what kenny is saying to them tbh

you're right, against bolton it wasn't

There is no movement neil and we tend to find the easy option when we can. At stoke last week it happend a surprising amount even though we didn't play carroll

i'm getting fed up with not playing it to feet

OH yeah... The Coates booking - did he get the ball or what? I thought it was a great challenge.

i'm not convinced myself. I thought he nearly did, but didn't

I thought he did ... replays weren't really conclusive, though I'd given up caring by then.

s'land -
excellent football first half

arsenal -
controlled organised football, we certainly weren't hoofing it

bolton -
excellent football

stoke -
we passed the ball when probably it would have been better to go long

spurs -
we were at sixes and sevens all game

so in essense in one game have we failed to get the ball down and play football.
you can argue we haven't created enough chances (which I wouldn't agree with with the exception of spurs)

basically I think liverpool have done all right, we've dropped points in 3 games

s'land -
match should have been over first half

stoke -
we created enough chances to win the game

spurs -
really bad day at the office

there seems to be a lot of knee jerk reaction to essentially one bad game.
it's 5 games into the season.
we're 2 points off 4th (TWO!!)
we're 3 points off 3rd

I'm seen more than enough to be optimistic with regards to what the season will bring.
okay, the DA was ill advised but we are still very much in with a chance of 4th.

i don't mind our point scenario, but its more than just the points thats bothering me

Yesterday we went out and didn't even look like we had a game plan. then adam got sent off and it descended into farce. The seeming lack of a plan A, let alone a plan B shocked me. There is not 1 single positive i can take from yesterday. Suarez was shite, carroll was less shite, our midield was shite, our defense was super shite, even pepe was shite.
Fuck me on fire it was abysmal. We played better at WHL under Roy for fucks sake. The man who was shit away from home ACTUALLY got us to play football and we were unlucky to lose last year

oh and against arsenal, we did have a tendency to hoof it long

All I could think about was "Suarez is going to leave us".

I appear to be damaged goods following the Torres saga.

Another question. How offside was our offiside goal? I was at the other end.
definately offside.

Adam's sent off came at the time when we started to claw back into the game, from then on it was a steep mountain to climb.

It was a poor performance from the start, but the ref killed the game.
You cant blame the ref for that tackle by Adam. He really cost us today. We need the new players to start contributing. They look a bit lost.
Can't argue about the first, but the second was harsh. He was following the ball.

By the way, part of Rafa's downfall was due to him worry too much on the opponent, rather than letting the team play their natural game.

Do you guys think KK will alter the team's setup as much as Rafa?

As long as he's not as stubborn as Rafa.

Having just watched the highlights I reckon we could have got something out of that game if only for Skrtel. He's fucking terrible. A positive will be if he never wears the shirt again.

If he has to play then definately not at right back i would rather have a slow carra than him at least he would use his brains to position himself at the right place to compensate for his lack of pace.skrtel is brainless headless chicken.

It was pointless to stick with Skrtel at RB. I said it even before the Stoke. It was an experiment waiting to fail. Having an inexperienced but natural RB is far better than playing a CB out of position. Especially one who's had a history of error proneness.

Also, I'm not exactly sure what Flanagan has done wrong. One bad game, and he's suddenly 'a kid' or 'not ready' anymore? Isn't this the same player who started 7 games for us last season, and looked a quality and very much 'ready' prospect?
