Thoughts on Today's game

Getting rid of our 2 best central midfielders while Gerrard was injured wasnt a smart move.
Gerrard with Spearing. Suarez and Bellamy up front. Carroll for last 20 minutes or against physical sides away from home.
Carra on the right.

It was pointless to stick with Skrtel at RB. I said it even before the Stoke. It was an experiment waiting to fail. Having an inexperienced but natural RB is far better than playing a CB out of position. Especially one who's had a history of error proneness.

Also, I'm not exactly sure what Flanagan has done wrong. One bad game, and he's suddenly 'a kid' or 'not ready' anymore? Isn't this the same player who started 7 games for us last season, and looked a quality and very much 'ready' prospect?

The difference is who we play ahead of him now.

I thought he looked "a kid" and "not ready" last season as well.

I thought he was decidedly assured for a 17 year old, and more ready than most prospects we've had in recent years.

yup. he never looked completely in control. His effort was top notch which is why people appreciated him.

Robinson however looks stupidly composed when on the ball. All the time. Forever

Flanagan is a better prospect than Robinson IMO. Robinson looked a kid.

Robinson doesn't look as old as flanno because he's nowhere near as hideous

Actually, looks wise, Flanagan comes across more as a kid than Robinson. It's the football I was talking about.

We're disagreeing on everything today.

I think Robinson will be the better player by a long, long way.
[/quote]

I think Flanagan will be something like Finnan. And Robinson something like Warnock or Bridge.

But we'll see. 🙂

I love Jonjo though. Thinking of starting a bandwagon.

aaaaaaah something we expertly agree on

Yup. I personally want to see him be given a shot while gerrard is out (which will happen again) as i think his dynamism and passing range is the closest we've got to stevie

We've bought Adam to play the sort of role he'd play for us though.

I don't see Shelvey getting much game time this season.

He'd have been better off going out on loan.

Adam gives me great cause for concern though. I was for his signing, but he's looked nothing less than shocking at times. If that continues, I suspect Shelvey might see some game time. I'd want it regardless anyhow, and I'd be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

But have a feeling that you're going to be right - which is typical of us as I think he's our best midfield prospect currently.

Adam's last two performances have been worrying alright. No getting away from it.

I was delighted when we finally signed him but he still has to prove he adapt his game and mix it up when it's fast and furious in the middle of the park, as it was against Stoke and Spurs.

Less hollywood balls, more discipline and simplicity wouldn't go amiss.

Still think he'll prove to be a very good signing.

Im firmly on that bandwagon too. Actually there is a side car attached to it for Martin Kelly followers.
