I remember thinking Jon Otsemobor would go on to be a good player for us. He played a couple of games for us and looked great. He went on loan to Bolton, got shot in the arse and was never heard of again.

Underrated Liverpool players in the wider audience also include Ian Callaghan and Jan Molby.

No fucker at work knows who Jan Molby is.

ooooooooooo Darren Bent. Consistent scorer in the premier league, pace, power, the works. Yet he barely gets a crack at england
In his occasional appearances for England he's looked out of his depth. Excellent club player though.

I don't like Hugo Almeida. Maybe I haven't seen enough of him, though.

Nigel Martyn was a quality goalkeeper.

Steve McMahon and Alan hansen should have had about 50 caps more apiece

Fucking Bryan Robson, shitcunt
Steve McMahon is a monster shout. Soooooo underrated even by many redmen.
Not so sure, Oncy..

Everyone knows the real Macca was a fucking legend.

Souness scored a lot more? Than who?
McMahon. Didn't he? I thought he scored quite a bit old souey.
I just googled Almeida and I didn't mean him. I meant this little powerhouse argentine midfielder who played for Parma I think about 15 years ago. His name now escapes me. A bit like Sorin....who was also massively underrated.

Souness knew the way to goal all right (he started out as a forward player) but I'm not sure he scored that many more than McMahon. Of the two of them I'd definitely prefer Souness, but McMahon at his best was quite some player too.

gene BTW, I can't abide that Toksvig woman. Never before have I heard a voice that's so eminently slappable.

Sandi Toksvig
Number 73?

Oh yeah I know who you mean. Matias Almeyda I think!? He and Simeone were great players.

Stefan Effenberg. Wonderful player, albeit a bit bonkers.
Yes! Good shout. That Bayern team of the late 90s was class. And robbed in '99.
There's quite a few really good players I liked from that time that probably aren't remembered as much as they should be. Mehmet Scholl, Georgie Hagi, Zvonomir Boban to name but three. Oh and that Turk who scored a milli goals whose name escapes me. He was a machine.

I'd imagine Sami Hyypia is massively underrated outside of Liverpool fans. I remember I had my Irish Manc supporting cousin telling me that Gary Breen was the better defender.
Mark Lawrenson
Everyone knows Lawro was class he's just such a cunt. Gillespie was very good I thought.

Bar Finnan, I can't think of many recent Liverpool players who have been underrated.

Riise had a few critics but only from a few idiots.

Hakan Sukur? All three of those are great shouts. Mario Basler too.
