They did, didn't they ?

Is anyone saying that? It's perfectly legitimate to discuss their performance, because it was exasperating. Even some neutrals found it exasperating.

No way would they throw the game. They were just shit, and with nothing to play for and a few of their better players missing, I'm not surprised they lost.

Still, citeh have two easy games left, but they have them fairly close together so you never know...

Either way, I'm fucking proud of my team, come what may. Great season.

If your own team played like that, and you found it perfectly acceptable, you'd have to be very stupid or very eccentric.

There is no point blaming others. I don't believe for one minute that Everton threw it.

We had the title in our hands and we let it slip, if you'll pardon the expression. Now we have to win at Palace. If we win that then we have to beat Newcastle.

In the meantime, unless we turn the goal difference, we have to hope that City slip up in one of their remaining games. If they don't there's no point complaining because Villa or West Ham are already on their holidays. Their work is done for the season.

Villa can't actually get relegated now either barring losing both remaining games by a landslide? Damn

Well at least this was City's 1st of 3 games in 8 days, and they may have Aguero and Toure as well as Nasri out of 1 or both remaining games?

I don't know about this Man City team to be honest, agree that blue shite did not look bothered but there were times when City were playing I was thinking to myself "Do you actually want to win this title ?". I don't think they are as good as people think. Anyway - we all knew this was the likely result especially with them weak minded blue folk thinking that their CL challenge is over.

We on the other hand have a duty to take this to the last day. Our aim in the next game should be one and simple - which is to win the game, and create as many chances as possible to score as many goals as possible. Just imagine for one second that if we score 5 to 7 goals which is actually totally within the realms of possibility because:-

1) Crystal Palace have nothing to fight for even though they are managed to Pulis - who manages teams well when survival is at stake - that is not the case anymore.
2) We create a shit load of chances and have had a long break since the last game.
3) The pressure is kind of off the players and by the time we play we may even be 3rd.
4) We put 5 past Spurs and 6 past Cardiff this season on our away visits.

If we consider all the above - then I would say that 6 goals will bring us to a three goal difference going into the last game. Now consider the games that City have got left:-

1) Villa - OK, an unpredictable game to say the least in which Villa could lose - but still a team who have beaten City, and I think they lost at home only by 1 goal (although away to City they lost 5-0). You never know what may happen, if Villa turn up for the party.

2) West Ham - not an easy proposition if they play to their potential, and given the way Kompany has been making a few forced errors, you don't know how they may handle the likes of Carrol or Nolan.

Given the above, we of all supporters know that strange things can happen - especially after Istanbul. If we go back to that night, and compare our situation now - I would say we are into that extra time period, where we were holding on. When we won the 3 cups under GH - do you remember what it was like ? every final was like a struggle for us but we did it.

Also - our players have had a taste of consistent winning now - which is going to live long in their memory and will be something that they will want to feel sooner rather than later. That in itself is a motivation. It ain't over everyone - it really isn't. We can still apply the pressure, we still hope. I really believe we can score 5 goals or more against Palace. Keep the faith all.

Again, who's blaming? Are we going to have a succession of posts in here complaining about what isn't being complained about? Is this Look Superior Day or something?

All I'm saying is did the 11 players that played give everything they had to try and win the game ? I don't think they did, the passing was slow and a team that has been praised for keeping the ball well seemed to give it back Man City without being put under pressure

So they played poorly? It's a fine line between accusing a team of throwing the game to just being, well, shit.

They were/are just not good enough.... had they delibaretly threw it Dzeko had not have to make a fool out of his club.

Right. I don't think they threw the game. I just hate how their fans love the fact that it affects us.
That is all.

This! It's far more important to most Everton supporters that LFC does badly, than Everton does well. They seem highly satisfied at dropping points today. OK, there is local rivalry everywhere in football, but those buggers take it to a new level verging on mental illness. 🙄

I think to suggest they threw it is disrespectful bullshit btw.
Not talking about anyone in particular btw.
Just generally.

To suggest they 'thew it' might be harsh but do me a favour if people seriously think that wasn't a gutless Everton performance. To taking way longer than necessary with throw ins(Baines especially) to hardly putting a tackle in or harrying a City side that was at times there for the taking, to passing it sideways in added time. Bizarre stuff.

Not blaming Everton on our Title failure - from the position we were in, but in terms of that game, it was a lame effort imo.

I don't think the players threw the game, Barkley was sensational, but the fans attitude throughout the game was an absolute embarrassment, I feel dirty for having wanted Everton to get champions league football now, small bitter fans.

No I dont think they threw it but they look like a team that has run out of legs in the last few weeks and this result didnt surprise me at all, it may have been slightly different had 4th place been a more realistic prospect. If we go to Selhurst Park and smash palace by 5 goals cos they are in full on holiday mode nobody will be accusing them of throwing the game will they

Did Man Utd throw their game against us too?
Cause they were pretty shit.
Maybe they like us.

I couldn't believe it at half time when the pundits excused Howard for both goals. The first one was pretty odd but the second one was downright peculiar, he seemed to dive in slow motion. I don't know what he intended, but it was a very strange performance.

He left a huge gap at the near post for the first goal, and nearly did it again in the second half.

I dont think they threw it but Baines, Howard, Osman and Alcaraz didnt turn up.
Could have been affected by the crowd.

Seeing Reid and Gray smile like that and and talk about not wanting to win the game is just wrong though.
If they contiune to be that unambitious and worry more aboutvhow it affects us morevthan them, a life time without throphies is what they deserve and will get.

I hindsight watching the game wasnt a good idea.
