The Magic that is Continio

I think criticism of Coutinho is a bit unnecessary to be honest. Is it warranted? He is young, tracks back and presses like a demon. He is always willing to take the ball in difficult areas and has the ability to carry the ball into advanced positions. He's an excellent outlet and ball carrier. Sometimes he is guilty of evading players on the halfway line only to give it away trying to force the pass but I can 'live' with that for now. I'm hoping he irons that out and improves his decision making but he is a joy to watch. We have a mercurial talent on our hands. He is scoring big goals for us and hopefully his stats improve as he continues to develop as a player.

Some posters are giving him a little bit of heat as they are demanding more from him. They feel he is capable of producing more and guaranteeing an end product. Sometimes I think this too but I'm not taking anything away from what his is already contributing. I don't think they are doing this either. Coutinho is guilty of trying too much at times and it can be frustrating as he's very close to being an absolutely amazing player. Maybe he'll get to that top level. We'll have to wait and see but let's enjoy him anyway.

I haven't defended him blindly since he was dropped. I thought he deserved another chance, that's all. My only recent things with him was 1)defending his right not to celebrate 2)defending his right to take that pen.

Only one of those viewpoints is controversial.

Also, balotelli is leaving this summer, so he's a write off

Coutinho I HOPE will be here for years. I want him to progress quickly so we can have a hell of a player
You've never criticised him the same way you've criticised Coutinho though.
That was my original point.
If you expect more from a 22 year old who works his bollox off week in week out and defend a player that's half arsed at the best of times I just find it weird.
You've also slagged off Sterling here to get across you're point across that Ballotelli deserves another chance.
He might not be a natural finisher but his movement is on another planet.
And we haven't lost a game when he's played up top.

Woah Woah woah

I haven't slagged sterling off at all so don't start that shit.

Sterling makes runs but he doesn't make the runs a striker would. That's all my point was.

Well yeah slagged is a bit harsh but more a backhanded compliment.
Because Mario's runs are so brilliant he deserves to start.
Is this how it works?

Not at all, but I thought after his injury we could see if he could be brought in. If it failed then it failed, I'd happily keep playing sterling.

I don't like us seeing waste money, and balo has been nigh enough the definition of that so far, however that doesn't mean he shouldn't get a run out once in a while.

But enough of balo and my views on him.

You're just a massive jus lover.

The way I figure it, is that Fabio means the opposite of what he says.

If he says a player is shit and should do better, they are probably one of our best.

If he thinks a player should play more, then they are actually shit.

Very generous of you to imply intent.

It is why Lampard's record - scoring in double digits in the league 10 seasons in a row, from midfield, for Chelsea (he was there for 14 seaons) - is so damn impressive, despite how much we'd love to hate him.
.

Though Lampard taking FKs and penalties obviously bolsters his numbers. Still excellent record, but worth keeping in mind.

poor the fabio...

My head is spining from just reading the thread..

Anyway why do you hate Countinho anyway ?

What is their not to love about him ?
