I got Harry Kewell vibes.
I can't like this social media wise for philosophical reasons but I agree
I got Harry Kewell vibes.
its weird, about 3/4 seasons ago, people would have said bowen would never get near chiesas abilityHe's pound shop Bowen ain't he.
When deployed on the right wing, he focuses on delivering driven crosses to feet, which are more accurate and effective than his lofted crosses - which tend to overshoot his teammates.
On the left wing, Chiesa prefers to push closer to the goal line and cut back, resulting in higher expected assists (xA) on this side.

What’s “OP chances created?”
He speaks English well it seems and not total wanker. He will do fine and a better option than I imagined, low risk and hope he does well. I assume we priced his injury into the price even with a year left.
I'm so glad we've finally replaced Smicer
They'll be on the physio's bed.I suppose as backup for Salah it could be a worthwhile signing. 6 forwards does seem a bit like overkill tbh though. One of them probably won't even make the bench, will they?
They'll be on the physio's bed.
It stands for Open Play chances created
So Diaz, Gakpo and Jota have identical numbers between Chances created and OP chances created, presumably because because they don’t take set pieces. Not sure what accounts for Nunez having a higher overall Chances created than only open play ones.
But then in Chisea’s case, the difference is huge! Does he take a lot of corners and free-kicks?
I’m keeping my expectations low - we’re signing an injury-prone Italian after all - but I think even in case he doesn’t fully settle, Chiesa brings a touch of class that Slot requires of his attackers. I think Jota has been key to our attack functioning as well as it did so far - he’s a player who can coolly execute a flawless and unorthodox action at a key moment, but beyond him and Mo we don’t have a lot of attackers with a track record of doing that with any consistency.
In Chiesa we’re adding another forward who can do some of what Jota does - a killer touch or a shot that instantly turns a regular attack into a big chance - and even if doesn’t regain his pre-injury acceleration and explosiveness, that touch of class will still be valuable.
Ever the optimist 😀So were Díaz and Nunez, and neither has been good enough, we are still hoping that both start doing things they consistently haven't so far.
I want forwards at that next level. I'm not saying they are easy to find, although I've been lucky enough to watch more than a handful, but they are harder to find the way we are looking.
We are trying to move on from a world class front three. We don't need to find all those goals but we do need some of these option players to be more than that, otherwise our attacking options will continue being strongest I've ever seen, while our best team isn't close. Maybe this will be the one, but I don't see it. I'd love if he means that we don't need to play Salah every game when he's inevitably faded for months, or, even better, to manage his minutes a tad so we don't need to see that version of him.
The counterpoint is that this is just great business. He is cheap as shit, and even if he gets through a season and just does ok with no major injury, at the very worst he, like any of the other options we have, has resale value and we can keep trying to trade up.
Everything we've done this summer reads as perfectly fine if we didn't have looming holes next year.
Danns will probably be sent out on loan when he's fully fit.For this price, he can bomb and it's fine. I have low expectations, impact kind of player, but glad we have a baller.
7 strikers for 5 spots per game (3 on pitch, 2 on the bench)?
Gakpo (on and off)
Darwin (on and off)
Diaz (on and off)
Jota (Game changer, injury prone)
Salah (Game changer)
Danns (Clinical for the future)
Chiesa (Game changer, injury prone)
Is he "that" injury prone though? Bar the ACL injury he has never had any injury that has kept him out longer than 2 weeks.
We had Milner, we have Gomez and now we have Chiesa.

Also, seems like he could play in #10 role, if for some reason Szobo and Elliott are unavailable. It also gives us the option of playing Salah up top and Chiesa / Diaz on the right when Jota gets injured.

In Serie A last season – where Chiesa played 81% of his minutes as a second striker – he completed 36.7 high-intensity pressures per 90, a figure that saw him rank second among all of Juventus’ forwards and attacking midfielders. His high-intensity pressure map below shows he’s someone willing to work hard in all areas of the pitch.
