I can't help but feel as though Stockholm syndrome has taken over somewhat.

Unless my memory is totally failing me (which is entirely possible), more or less everyone was in agreement here that we needed to strengthen. Now there seem to be increasing numbers who are parroting the lines that we have a big squad, it'd be hard / impossible to find the players to fit into our squad and so forth and so forth.

We do to challenge for and win the league, but I think there's an acceptance that it's an unrealistic goal for Slots' first year. I've seen nothing to suggest we are at risk of not securing the top four again. And although it sounds like Tomkins-style PR, I agree with and hope we have yet to see the best of Nunez, Gravenberch, Gakpo, Szobo, and others. For me, there some legitimate room for growth in the current squad, which Slot has historically specialised in.

My concern is unless we're securing the contracts of Trent, Salah and VVD then we're leaving far too much to do next summer, which sounds depressingly familiar. I'm more anxious about the Liverpool in 25/26 than the 24/25 squad not being competitive. We need to jib off the League Cup and focus on what matters. That was Klopps undoing last year, and we'd be stupid to follow it up.

yep apparently we are ok now since our failed bid for zubimendi. I'm sure there are many better options than quansah and gravy who would go straight into our team.

I think they're waiting for Everton to go bust and we just buy the whole job lot for thirty quid.

I dunno if it's just because I'm a testicle but I think we'll be ok. The only truly shite player in the starting eleven who I can't stand the sight of is Darwin, but I dunno who you'd buy to replace him. Hopefully Jota starts.

I think we'll be fine for 4th, barring some series of weird disasters.

Squad is good and first XI is mostly on par with Arsenal and City. As for next summer, I think VVD will sign on again, can't see him wanting to leave. Salah, yeah he'll probably be off. Not sure on Trent, but then we've got Bradley as a ready made replacement, so not sure even those problems are that pressing.

I do think it would be better to be looking at Salah replacements right now though. And it's fucking bizarre that we don't seem to be even considering replacing Nunez.

The 30 or whatever it is, BBC commentators have us as a very solid 3rd with Arsenal and City fighting it out.

United, Spurs and Newcastle duelling for 4th.

Barring Slots methods working wonders that sounds about right.

Reminder these guys at the BBC get paid a handsome dime for these kind of sticking their necks on the line predictions.

Who in their right mind is going to buy Nunez knowing we squandered over £65m+ for him?

No one. Because they can’t afford him, and he’s not for sale anyway.

Going to be one of our youngest players to reach the 100 club.

Slot is inheriting the best squad since Joe Fagan. Remember the fucking trash the last few managers had to work with? As for zubamendi, none of you had heard of him five minutes ago.

And which 100 club? The one hundred million euros we've already paid for the useless cunt? Or the hundred days in nick he'll get for the next poor fucker he nuts?

I think we'll finish 3rd with what we've got. If we want to potentially challenge for the league title we're at least 3 signings short.

I agree we'll be top three but I don't know who would improve us in key areas. We've got a great goalie or two, a great defence, I don't think it's worth spending on the midfield until we see how the current eight or nine we've already got deal with the new tactics, and we've got options up front too. I fucking hate the lizards as much as anyone but I think this is probably the most risky time to buy anyone.

We don't know what the problems are. We don't even know if we've got a problem. I mean apart from the donkey, obv.

We could improve at left back, a DM and a someone to challenge Mo at RW.

I’d be happy with just an upgrade at left back that can play centre back in all honesty.

Our star man gonna be younger to do it than Sadio Bobby or Mo.

Before his 27th, you'll see.

A club Torres, Suarez, Sturridge never entered due to a mix of greed, chasing glory elsewhere and constant injuries.

100 club baby.

Actually, reckon he'll even push close to the 150 club.

I think we're just a couple short but there are three considerations in our favour ; no-one has faced up to a Slot team before, I expect the number of injuries to be way down (this has cost us so many times under Klopp) and I don't expect our players to be totally knackered come end of March.
