Team under Klopp, your expectations please?

That's true, but in a DM role he'd be the one doing the closing down. As a rule I'm not a fan of tinkering with players' positions but, if we're going to have to do a bit of that until January, this is one option which might be worth a look IMO.

He'll be less effective when we're in possession of the ball because opposing teams will target and close him down.

I wonder if there is any mileage in moving Sahko up to DM, would certainly add some steel to midfield along with accurate pacy forward passing.
To be fair, the further away he is from our goal the better.

Jesus no Tony. I don't think we should do that at all.

Correct, he likes to play a destroyer that can get involved in the attacking play and contribute. That rules fucking Lucas out for a start. He'd either have to adapt Can, or buy one in Jan if he needs one.
That's what we need and what we needed in the summer to complete a decent window - We were linked for a while with Gary Medel - who I thought was pretty decent when he was at Cardiff before he went to Inter - Perhaps it's his nickname The Chilean Pitbull that I like [emoji48]

The reality is we have got a decent squad - other than as above- Brendan, for various reasons that we've done to death, was not getting the best out of them. You could tell by the General demeanour and lack of passion the players had lost faith.
Someone like Klopp, not that there seem to be many like Klopp, and his back-room can sort this out very quickly. The timings right - we are only three points off fourth

So true, recent performances have been so timid, the players look afraid to try anything risky offensively. The squad is young and talented, it can be turned around quickly and I am sure Klopps' bouncy enthusiasm will rub off. 4th is certainly attainable.

Poor the Milner. After leaving City and signing for us because Rodgers would play him as a central midfielder, he now probably faces another season playing wide battling for fourth, while City win the league.

I'd have thought so, yes, but jan's main point was that Milner doesn't want to play wide, and that was a major reason why he left Citeh for us.

Not sure about that. I'd have thought he could well be one of a number of options Klopp will want to try in the deeper CM role.

Yeah, I have no idea how Klopp tends to set up his teams or how frequently he rotates players, but I'm pretty sure Milner won't be guaranteed the central role like he was under Rodgers.
I'm blindly guessing we might see him start more often than not and play a number of different positions.

Klopp will give the players confidence and improve them but must start by fixing the defence. Henderson will suit the gegenpressing style because he can run. Lalana may get a chance to flourish.

Milner I daresay will be reduced to the bench after the transfer window. While he can run all day, he does so at 20mph.

Mignolet and Lovren to be shipped.

Top 4 and FA/Milk Cup win.

This gegenpressing - from what I understand it's about winning the ball back with- high energy, hunting in packs closing the opposition down and breaking swiftly that being the case it had to be the death knell for Lucas surely to God.
As much as it seems ludicrous one player that could work that system is Joe Allen

When he is fit, probably. But I doubt his body will survive Klopp's training regimen week after week. I suspect neither Allen nor Lucas will be here next season.

Yes it could make or break Allen.
I have to say his recent appearances have left me wondering if he does have something to contribute , perhaps that's just by comparison to Lucas or might it be his new unkempt Eastern European look that is fooling me ? #Allenic

Allen has, as the others, a good opportunity to stand up and show his worth. We know he can pass the ball, and he is no DM but as the philosophy is that we are to press in numbers he should have the capasity to move his feet. I personally don't think he is good enough, but then again Klopps philosphy has not been playing stars but letting players develop into stars. In this system each part will form the team, and if Allen makes it then fair play to him.

Milner may not have electric pace but he isn't that slow, & he runs almost as much as the metronome that is Henderson.

I'll be very surprised if Klopp doesn't find a place for him, I'd hazard a guess he & Allen will be tried as a pairing in front of the defence with Henderson just ahead of them for support pressing when needed.

Geis has a rocket of a shot – if we get him he would be the first DM with any kind of goal threat we've had since Hamann. He takes free-kicks and penalties too. Won't be easy, Schalke paid 12M euros for him this summer and I'm sure they won't consider selling him in January.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if they win a trophy with a team full of Brendan's picks?
