I will agree that he was bad yesterday, but he may mature.....

then again he may not....

(let him figure it out in the reserves....)

Well the problem with that is he is usually putting in man of the match performances for the reserves.

The step up is too much for him i fear, same as it proved to be for Mellor who broke all kinds of records for the ressies, they are just not from the right gene pool to play in the premiership, I mean their natural physical shape being big boned and dwarf.

the lad should have had a debut alongside a more accomplished midfielder and/or be eased into the starting 11 by having more sub appearances. but then needs must.

comparing him to lucas is unfair. as lucas has got steadily worse as he's played more. i don't think i was the only one that was excited by lucas' performance as a sub for gerrard in the derby a few years ago. the lucas of now is simply not dynamic enough to be a premier league midfielder.

spearing tried too hard and will learn from it, whether he gets another chance anytime soon is another question.

Spearings contribution shouldnt surprise anyone. What qualities has he that says he should be able to match, or even more unrealistic dominate a PL midfield? He has some nice touches, but no mobility, no breakthrough passing abilities, no power, no pace. He has got absolutely nothing to do in a PL midfield. Pretty much the same can be said about Lucas. Schocking selection from rafa to keep the Argentinian Captain on the bench for 70 minutes. Absolutly disgusting management from Rafa. Poor rubbish-. Fuck.

Jimmy Case was quite protective of him after the match. He said Lucas was mainly to blame because he was undisciplined in his position and basically abandoned Spearing far too often.

bullshit, lucas was better than him simple as. if spearing were foregin rather than a scouser would case have leapt to his defense? I doubt it.

Exactly. Same old.

Personally I think he is too small.

To those who want to blame his performance on Lucas get a grip, if your a quality player then it does not matter who you are paired with...

Spearing passed the ball to the wrong players on his own accord, not because of Lucas....

Noone played well on Saturday and it can't be easy coming in for your debut into a team not playing well and low on confidence. If he gets another chance (which isn't guaranteed) then I suspect we will see a better performance.

I don't think there were any positives from our performance against Sunderland but to make the young lad making his debut the scapegoat seems a bit fucking harsh

Spearing came in to a new system with the 3 CBs behind him. Plus he has had little playing time, an odd ten minutes here and there. Give him more time before you pan him.
