Newcastle have got it spot on - they're really giving Allen little room when he has the ball and are taking turns to snap at him, either forcing him to give up the ball, or pass it backwards, and they're then happy to have us knock it around at the back and then send it long or pass it back to them. Very tight spaces in midfield for us to operate today, and with Johnson playing a withdrawn role / being useless as usual and Sterling not able to beat his man, we're really just confined to a scrap in the middle of the pitch.
We seem to be going asymmetric this game; Sterling is staying wide up front, but Johnson is staying home. On the other flank, Moreno is pushing up and wide, but Henderson, Coutinho and Allen are all largely central. Come to think of it, that's similar to what it was against Swansea too.
Glad that Taylor got booked, fucking joke of a tactic that. Hopefully he'll lunge at someone in the second half and pick up another booking, that cunt.
