Yeah, but Spurs are a bigger club than Bournemouth.

I don’t think Levy is the problem at Spurs - they spend too… they just spend badly.

Bournemouth are going to be raided, they aren’t keeping that team together long - they’re Brighton 2.0.

Spurs' wage to turnover ratio is just 47%, easily the lowest in the league. The problem is the spending. They don't spend a lot relative to their ambitions and they spend it poorly.

Bournemouth will undoubtedly be raided but they've got a rich, bold owner and a good scouting and football ops team. Their ceiling is undoubtedly lower than Spurs but I have few doubts which team will be run better over the next season or two.

(I was going to say that the Spurs job is a deadend but Conte and Nuno finding success elsewhere perhaps makes that untrue.)

In one sense, they’ve been doing something like Bournemouth are doing and Arsenal did - recruiting a lot of younger players that supposedly have higher ceilings and have given themselves plenty of room to keep them at the club with improved contracts.

They’ve just not picked very good players - some are, but it’s been pretty average overall.

That and Ange not really being up to it at this level.

I think Areola would be ideal, not because of his results, but a Spurs manager has to play attractive football - they won’t last long playing defensive crap - that’s their thing.

I think Areola ticks those boxes, plus his footballing style is clearly better than Ange’s.

That’s what Bournemouth are though - regardless of how smart and monied their owner is - they’re a proving ground for players and managers wanting to take a step up to a top club.

In an ideal world, they’d get their shot at winning a league… but they won’t.

I'm just not sure why Iraola would jump to Spurs rather than wait for a top club to open up in a year or two.

Tottenham fans don't seem to agree with you about Levy and I think they're right. It's Levy's ultimate responsibility that they spend badly and have done for a long time now, whether or not he has (as many of their fans think he has) a say in whom they go for.

True, but I wouldn’t necessary be classifying the “dare to dreamers” thoughts as on the money.

To be fair, he managed to Jedi mind trick Mourniho & Conti into managing Spurs, no mean feat, but he is a bit of a pantomime villain for Spurs fans.

16 managers, 23 years, 1 trophy, I think the banner at this weekend's match said.

Yeah, but, they only won 5 trophies in the preceding 23 years going back to the 70’s and they were mostly FA Cups.

It’s not as if Spurs were ever regularly picking up trophies.

Anyway that’s more managers and trophies than Everton over the last 23 years.

So their trophy haul has reduced by 80% and we're now comparing them to Everton.

I think you've made my case that Levy is the problem, mate.

I wouldn't trade Bournemouth for Spuds right now either, TBF. If he keeps doing what he's doing then better and more ambitious clubs will come.

The only real benefit to managing Spurs is playing at that stadium and living in London, but the later is subjective.

It's better for him get Bournemouth in Europe and take it from there. There is the danger of then having too many games for the squad, but most sensible fans and people in the game can accept a lower league finish for the benefit of playing in Europe for a season. It would be absolutely huge for their fanbase.

Carlisle United, who are bottom of League Two, are weighing up making an approach to try to appoint Steven Gerrard as their new manager following the former Liverpool captain recently leaving Al-Ettifaq. (Mail)

This the equivalent of me turning up to a dinner in jogging bottoms and a vest interrupting Jessica Alba while she is having an anniversary dinner with her husband, then proceeding to tell she has to go out on a date with me in my £800 Yaris at the local Chicken and Chips where we can get 2 strip burgers and fries for £3.99

Which one is Jessica Alba? Gerrard or Carlisle?
