Right... Would you swap Suarez for Ronaldo or Messi?

It's pretty funny seeing people get all worked out especially over a hypothetical question, when deep down we all know the possibility of Messi or Ronaldo playing for us is about a one in a billion light years.

Based on the soap bubble theory I imagine that in some reality that comment would have some relevance.

Just not this one.

There's some pretty tough competition but that's up there with one of the worst posts seen on this site.

Yup ... The things Suarez does on the ball in close quarters is phenomenal, and probably in the same exact class as Messi in that (if not better). Ronaldo doesn't get close to them with regards to skill - his ability to pass players is based more on his phenomenal speed & power, which almost always gives him room to get his shot off.

Suarez uses his imagination to get him to places beyond imagination of others. He tries things nobody thinks of and this is how he catches defences by surprise.
Add this to his fantastic technique, skills and fighting spirit and you've got a very attractive package.

😱 😵

Right, that post has confused the hell out of me, Hal.

First you say you really worry that Messi is going to be bogged down with injuries. It's a separate subject but I said in a thread on here four years ago that Messi was going to last about another 5 years and then injuries would ruin his career due to a lack of agility and flexibility. The reason he's so hard to keep off the ball and why he has such a low centre of gravity is the steroids he used when he was younger. The down side of that is the hyper inflated metabolism that produced this strength. Biologically his body is at least 30+ (I heard it suggested his body is probably closer to 35) and injuries will come fast and furious from this point on.

To the point of this thread, however. You say you worry about Messi being injury prone but then say you'd swap him for Suarez. Then you say that Suarez is the best player in the world right now. 😕

I don't think any truly respected analysts of the game believe Messi is the best player in history. He's definitely not there yet and I think he's out of time now to get there with injuries etc.

Ronaldo is incredible and I'd have to think hard about it. If you were designing the perfect player it'd look a lot like him; the pace, the power, the skill, technique, the professionalism and the drive. He creates goals and he scores even more of them. He's so professional you'd have to think he may well continue like this for another 3 or 4 years.

Suarez is quick though not like Ronaldo. I think he's actually, technically, better than Ronaldo, probably just as strong but not quite as good in the air. Ronaldo's probably more skilful while the propensity Suarez has for the unpredictable and impetuous makes him near unplayable. But, where Ronaldo is professional and driven, Suarez is ravenous with a passion bordering on psychotic. Like putting up a superbly trained German Shepherd against a raging junkyard dog. One engenders confidence and belief while the other screams danger.

I wouldn't swap him for anyone in world football. He's as good as there is - I just hope he realizes that all the factors which go into producing that form may be impossible to replicate anywhere else.

Sorry for the confusion!

I think Messi has injury problems, and I'm concerned, but unlike many others I believe he'll sustain his phenomenal level of performance throughout his career, rather than being finished at 28.

I think Suarez is the best player in the world at this moment in time. Messi is a better player. That's why I would swap him - dependent on injuries, which I believe he will overcome.

Also, I - and many others - do believe he's the best player ever. But I suppose that's just opinion.

Okaaay.
At the risk of uncovering something genuinely unsavoury, why exactly do you want them as 16 year-old boys?
