Right... Would you swap Suarez for Ronaldo or Messi?

I wouldn't swap Suarez for either of them, but say we had messi here I wouldn't swap messi for ronaldo or Suarez same with Ronaldo. Suarez has given us soo many great moments its unreal I get goosebumps watching his videos on YouTube but that's not to say Madrid and barca fans don't feel the same way about messi or ronaldo everyone has a talisman.

I'd swap him for both as you know there is no chance of Messi or Ronaldo doing something totally fucking stupid and getting banned for 10 games a season.

He's up there with them ability wise but that little dark side to his character makes him a more risky proposition for me.

Messi is just coming back after missing quite a few games through injury. So there's no guarantee any of the 3 will not get injured.

I'm pretty sure Suarez is never going to repeat any stupid thing which will have him banned for a long time.

He's been scoring at an extraordinary rate in a league that is considerably more difficult than LA Liga. Ronaldo didn't match Suarez's scoring rate this season in even his best season for Utd despite being the penalty taker for his team. 'Nowhere near' is to seriously underestimate the standard suarez has been hitting. And supporters from clubs everywhere have been saying this, even Utd fans. So red blinkers has fuck all to do with it.

Ignoring any real world problems like settling in a different country/league/team/discipline and injuries, just basing it purely on footballing ability and assuming they hit the ground running for us.

I'd swap him for Messi, the guy is fantastic.
I was on the fence about swapping him for Ronaldo but I would also based on him scoring so consistently (although he takes penalties and I don't think he's as good a freekick taker)

However I always get the feeling Messi might pick up and injury one of these days and never be quite the same after, plus nobody can be sure how he'd get on dropping him into this Liverpool side in this league. Ronaldo is a big time charlie, he'd hate it at Liverpool.

Erm...if I may beg to differ...Ronaldo wasn't played as a main striker for the scums.

He played as a forward, even if he operated mainly from the left. He didn't hold the ball up centrally, but he might as well have been a striker. It is BS when people describe him as a winger or a midfielder. He was a forward. He also took fks and penos. As I say, loads of non-Liverpool fans have been pondering whether Suarez in current form might be the best in the world so it isn't all about red-tinted anything.

There is a chance Suarez will do something stupid again, he's done it twice before and it's part of who he is. There is a dark side to him, and when things aren't going well then who knows what he could do.

Its alright saying "he's never do anything again, he's changed etc" but things are currently going very well. What about when things aren't so good? You just don't know what he'd do. And that's fucking that so there.

That assumes he actually was guilty over the Evra incident, not an assumption I share. Besides, if at some future time things weren't going too well for us, who's to say Brylcreem Boy or even Messi wouldn't also want out?

My heart says no because he's already ours and doing the business. However, it would be silly not to take a hypothetical swap for either of the two best players in the world.

Wasn't talking about the Evra, or the finger at Fulham, or the not shaking hands.

Was talking about the Twice he's been a mad bitey bastard. There's something not quite right in his head.

I love him as much as the next lad but I'd still sooner have Messi or Ronaldo. Two best players I've ever seen. And I would say the majority of football fans would say the same. I would expect to see red tinted glasses on a Liverpool forum so it realise I'm in the minority like but it's just my opinion.

Messi is brilliant, the best in the world. I'm starting to wonder whether the injuries he's picking up are the inevitable result of him bring pumped full of hormones and stuff when he was kid and also that possibly he's been massively overplayed given his age.

all amazing. i can't see Ronaldo getting better, Messi could just get better and on his day he is incredible. so I would swap him with Luis (tough choice though)

You are wrong there mate. Messi works very hard.

Hmmm ok maybe I'm being harsh on him but I doubt he works as hard as Suarez, the guy is a freak of nature in that regard for a striker.

Plus Suarez appears to never get injured too which is a big plus in the PL

Aye, cos what Messi offers defensively is the bit that's gonna swing it for most folks.

Fucking fuck.

So you want Suarez instead of Ronaldo or Messi because he's a better defender?
Ha no reading between the lines here eh?

I think from the evidence of this season they are all much of a munchness going forward, creating chances and scoring goals.

It's Suarez workrate when his team doesn't have the ball that sets him apart from the other 2 for me so that is what tips it in his favour.

I really worry about Messi being bogged down by injuries, but people writing him off now are doing so prematurely. He's the best player ever.

Also, I think Ronaldo is in such good shape that his pace and power will be there until he retires.

Ronaldo and Messi are two of the best players ever (pains me to say that because I hate the greasy twat), so yeah I'd swap him for them. Let's see if Suarez can do it over a longer period. However, he's the best player in the world right now.

😱 😵

Right, that post has confused the hell out of me, Hal.

First you say you really worry that Messi is going to be bogged down with injuries. It's a separate subject but I said in a thread on here four years ago that Messi was going to last about another 5 years and then injuries would ruin his career due to a lack of agility and flexibility. The reason he's so hard to keep off the ball and why he has such a low centre of gravity is the steroids he used when he was younger. The down side of that is the hyper inflated metabolism that produced this strength. Biologically his body is at least 30+ (I heard it suggested his body is probably closer to 35) and injuries will come fast and furious from this point on.

To the point of this thread, however. You say you worry about Messi being injury prone but then say you'd swap him for Suarez. Then you say that Suarez is the best player in the world right now. 😕

I don't think any truly respected analysts of the game believe Messi is the best player in history. He's definitely not there yet and I think he's out of time now to get there with injuries etc.

Ronaldo is incredible and I'd have to think hard about it. If you were designing the perfect player it'd look a lot like him; the pace, the power, the skill, technique, the professionalism and the drive. He creates goals and he scores even more of them. He's so professional you'd have to think he may well continue like this for another 3 or 4 years.

Suarez is quick though not like Ronaldo. I think he's actually, technically, better than Ronaldo, probably just as strong but not quite as good in the air. Ronaldo's probably more skilful while the propensity Suarez has for the unpredictable and impetuous makes him near unplayable. But, where Ronaldo is professional and driven, Suarez is ravenous with a passion bordering on psychotic. Like putting up a superbly trained German Shepherd against a raging junkyard dog. One engenders confidence and belief while the other screams danger.

I wouldn't swap him for anyone in world football. He's as good as there is - I just hope he realizes that all the factors which go into producing that form may be impossible to replicate anywhere else.

Can't argue with that mate but I'd suggest it's that "dark side" of him that makes him better than either. Ronaldo, particularly, is driven to be the greatest ever as few others have ever been but it's kind of a "civilised" driven if that makes sense. Driven in every way to the conventional meaning of the word. Suarez is not physically as gifted though his skills are sublime and technique unrivalled. But he goes beyond convention - his is a desperation in the deepest meaning of the word. It's freaky, unsettling and it pushes him beyond the boundaries that players like Ronaldo operate within.
