What am I expected to say after he has a less impressive game? Were you on here lauding Lucas every time he had a dodgy game and was set upon by the hordes? Did you fuck. Yes, you have always been consistent in that you said he was a good player, but did you come on here, let's say after that FA cup game against Everton where he had a really woeful performance, and say "you're all wrong, Lucas is great"! Of course you didn't, because you'd just end up arguing round in circles, and actually it would just be trolling. As I've said above, and it isn't a difficult concept to get your head around, I take particular exception when Adam plays well, and still has the usual suspects saying he was shite. That's when I feel the need to say something.

I've got to admit i find the whole so and so was right about Lucas all along stuff pretty amusing. The lad has played well over 100 times for the club and probably played well in 30 of them games. Its like the good spell of form before his injury has turned him into some world class player in the minds of our fans. He'll come back in the side next season and do a steady job breaking up play and releasing the ball as he always does.
As for Adam we'll just have to take him for what he is. We've seen the good (goals, creating chances), the bad (his sloppy play and conceding freekicks in dangerous areas) and the ugly (his mug). Hopefully the good means he's going to be a more than able squaddie in future, probably offering something similar to what Danny Murphy used to when he was at the club.

Someone made a good post earlier anyway, for the price he'll prove to be a shrewd buy for the squad (at least), like Murphy was for us. He's made his contribution and had we had a couple more top class players, it's that kind of contribution to the side that can make the difference, particularly in games where others are missing (like Gerrard for instance). Much like Defoe with his usual 7 or 8 games purple patch for Spurs. Not saying that's all he's worth, but he can contribute to the team and play a pivotal role when others are absent aswell. It's going to be difficult to unearth another Gerrard but Adam is worth his salt and he, along with others, can go some way to compensating for when he's missing.
There's some ridiculous points in this thread, notably the effort from Modo about him not being Alonso, I think it's fair to say he's been a good acquisition so far, not without flaws, but he's bedded in quite well and surrounded by good players like Gerrard, Suarez and Bellamy, he can only learn and continue to improve.

I wish Lucas was fit. We could play him and Henderson against Scholes and Jones. The middle of the park would be a football vortex where if the ball went it it wouldn't pop out and play would continue until someone racially abused an opponent or a cat ran on or there was a head injury when one of the keepers repeatedly nutted his own goalpost.
