I don't know why these seem to have disappeared of late .... I've always enjoyed them. Anyway I can't be arsed with a long write-up so just the ratings :

Reina - 7 - great save.
Johnson - 8 - MoM. I know that no-one else has this opinion but I just thought he was great last night, he was everywhere in attack and defence and Bale never got a look in on their right. Obviously out to impress Capello !
Skrtel - 8 - great defending all over the pitch.
Agger 7
Kelly 6.5
Gerrard 7
Spearing 6.5 - did a lot of unheralded work IMO, closed down their MF very well.
Adam - 5 - very uncreative, which is what he was there for.
Carroll - 6.5 - another step along the path
Kuyt - 4 - Crap. Our most unproductive and wasteful player by far.
Bellamy - 6 - very quiet game by his standards.
Substitutes
Downing - 5 - didn't notice him.
Suarez - 6 - certainly did notice him.

i thought he was very good defensivley and attack wise he was not his outstanding best, but he did probe a lot and did more than many others, even though he was a left back

True, we didn't get overrun in midfield but as I also said before the game having Adam and Gerrard in midfield is ineffective. We basically have two players who both are comfortable being outside the box. If Henderson played we might have had someone who could've been a bit more mobile than Adam and maybe just maybe supported Carroll upfront.
Hindsight is 20/20 like they say but it's becoming more and more evident that we're missing a Silva type player in the team and I've been complaining about that since last summer.
Wasn't it a bit frustrating that we dominated the midfield but basically couldn't get into the final third?
Carroll is too isolated and Spurs weren't really troubled by our crosses or our attempts to pass the ball into the box.
They had two midfielder constantly protecting the back line and at times it seemed as if any player who tried to find space in the box had at least three spurs surrounding him.

I don't think Adam and Gerrard should be on the pitch together.

I thought the reason that these threads died a death was that the were more reflective of the posters ingrained opinion of each individual player rather than a subjective appraisal of their match performance.
Brendan always gave Lucas a minus mark,
someone else always gives Agger at least a seven,

I've said this countless times, it's like Danny Murphy syndrome, he tries the adventurous pass more than most, so he will give it away. People seem to be picking on him for the sake of it, probably because Lucas isn't there.

Adam created 6 chances and had the most touches of the ball of all our players. Pass percentage of 84 or something. So instead of saying he was uncreative, Id say he was our only creative outlet last night.
Gerrard was a bit lost, Kuyt was ineffectual and Bellamy got past Walker once.

Well, he's certainly not the Alonso that upped his game in his last season with us anyway. Nor is he the exaggerated version we hear about on here so frequently, the one who was 'brilliant' every season for us.

He's second to only Suarez for the amount of goals he's been involved in. If our players weren't so blunt infront of goal, it'd probably be more.

How about we concentrate on what he did right? Spearing was half as good yet gets less criticism cos he tries less adventurous balls.

Well you interpret as you want, but I never said that Adam was shit.
What I was basically saying is that Adam and Gerrard are occupying the same spot and more or less doing the same job in midfield.
I wanted a more mobile midfielder to start, hence Henderson.
And if I have to pick between Gerrard or Adam to partner Spearing in midfield I'd pick Stevie every time.

And if we had a trequartista in the squad I'd pick him before both Henderson and Adam.

Oh, you're right Doc I did say that Henderson and Silva are the same type of players and that he's just as good.

Oh and FFF, we score more goals without Suarez as evident in this game. 😉

Pepe - 7 - not much to do
Kelly - 6.5 good in defense but did not offer much going forward, but it seemed our defense was instructed to be cautious.
johnson - 6 - saw more of the ball than kelly, but should have don better with it...
Skittles&Dagger - 8 - best centre pairing in the league. I dont have the heart to separate them. But Agger was not as effective bringing the ball out against spurs. Agger is almost always given at least a 7 because he has not played too many games worse than that. If he was at another team we would be looking enviously.
Spearing - 6.5 decent game at stopping their midfield but poor in posession.
StevieG - 6 - not his best game. He was not able to support forward players as well as he should have and is it just me or does he not link well with Adam.
Adam -7 - Best of our midfielders. But the opportunities he creates are mostly percentage chances. He didnt give the ball away though. How the stats have him as the most mobile player is a mystery to me.... But thats an aspect thats hard to see if you are watching the game on telly.
Bellamy -5. 5 not his best game. I would have replaced him with Suarez.
Kuyt - 6 - good hustle. I think he should have stayed on considering he has just found his scoring touch and he wasnt playing poorly. His movement was good.
Carroll same as kuyt, but won a lot of balls. Suarez and Bellamy could have used him better.... They should have, but i dont like that we try too hard to fit him into our play by changing our style.

Downing - Me no likey. Average player performed averagely. If Kuyt had Downings pace, he will be one hell of a player.
Suarez - He needs to learn to channel his energy into getting good performance. He would do well to not speak a word against the scum and focus... There will be obvious baiting. If possible we should stick a minin recorder on to Suarez... I

Reina 7 - largely untroubled but showed his class when Bale was through on goal. Distribution was quality as always.

Kelly 7 - played well i thought, strong and composed. prob could've used the ball a little better tho.

Skrtel 8- another blinder of a game. some crunching tackles, showed his pace and mobility when required too. beast.

Agger 8 - forming a great partnership with Skrtel. didn't put a foot wrong. Having him fit and healthy makes a massive difference.

Johnson 6 - some good, some bad. Same old story. Had loads of the ball but decision-making let him down.

Kuyt 5 - not his best game. quiet.

Gerrard 5 - apart from a few nice touches, thought Stevie was very subdued. Little off the pace and didn't seem to enjoy Parker snapping at his heels every 5 seconds(Parker was brilliant tbf)

Spearing 6 - worked tirelessly and unlucky not to score a beaut. was ok in general.

Adam 7 - don't understand all the stick he's getting. had a poor spell but hes slowly getting his form back. looked the most likely to carve out a chance.

Bellamy 5 - like Gerrard and Kuyt, he never really got going. Bit annoyed that we didnt switch him over to the right as he was getting no joy up against Walker. His pace is badly needed.

Carroll 8 - much better compared to a few weeks back. looks fitter, more mobile and he's actually controlling the ball now lol. keep it going big man.


Subs:

Suarez 5 - rusty which is obviously understandble caused panic in the Spurs defence and gave us a bit of spark(sorely lacking)
Downing 3 - depressingly shite.
