I think the only possible question mark for line up now will be Matip & Konate. We might fancy Konate’s pace against Vinicius. It will be very important that Hendo helps out Trent down that wing - but we can stifle his threat by keeping them on the back foot down that wing.

I’m now expecting Ibu to get the call up which might feel harsh on Joel but could be necessary.

Watching the highlights of our 0 0 draw last year:



With Phillips and Kabak at CB. We should have beaten them.

We're better in 5 different positions from that game (VVD, Matip, Hendo, Thiago, Diaz). They're better in 1 (Carvajal).

One thing I did note was how much space TAA seemed to have all night. For all the plaudits of Vini Jnr, the lad sure is half-arsed when it comes to tracking back. We need to exploit that against Madrid this time. And Trent needs to be spot on with his delivery.

Everyone is worried about how Trent will defend Vini. Madrid should be worried about if Vini is going to actually defend Trent.

Was heartening watching that, although the highlights of the match in Madrid would be galling i suspect.

Good job this match is being played in Anfield South South.

Fabs and Thiago injuries and Media blah blah re. TAA and Vinicius (ignoring what TAA can do against a non-existent Vinicius when we're in attack) - we're going to lose.
Now with 6 days rest for the team and hearing Fabs and Thiago look likely to start - confidence returning.
