I'm not expecting any miracles. I've kinda half given up on us being a real top level club again.

It's nice to be able to be look forward to some kind of positive change though.

Dont say that. Be deluded like me
.. believe that we are a big top level club that can attract the best players and the likes of Downing could have played for Barca !!!!

Not used to signing players is because both Mainz and Dortmund had a Dof that job included signing players. That wasnt Klopps job.

So you really think he had no saying on players? He just saw some guys coming to the Training and he just made them win Bundesliga. .. twice? Sure

Heh, no. His input as Ross says is obviously neccessary.
But Zorc was responsible for buying the players and scouting etc as Sport Director.
How the two worked together will be guessing but I'd say Klopp would give his input on what type of players he needs.

Zorc also handles media speculation about potential transfers, contracts etc

What has shocked me is that Sanchez, the one and only similar player to Suarez available at the time, is getting his contract upgraded to 130k a week! It would be pretty safe to assume that we offered him a lot less than that. 130K is the same as Sturridges' contract. Ultimately if we had pushed the boat out on this player and landed him maybe we would have got top 4 last season and Rodgers wouldn't have been given the bumsrush. Yada yada wife prefers London but ultimately these things almost always come down to money. I guess we will find out eventually the circumstances behind our recent transfer activities, but for sure nobody could argue it had been very effective. That decision has cost us and Rodgers massively
