Jono has it spot on. Mignolet is having to do far more than he should have to because of our shit defence. Its inevitable that at some point he's going to make mistakes. I'm still backing him all the way. He's saved our skin on many occasions.

However, I do agree that his ball work needs attention.

The "let's bring Reina back" replies are embarrassing.

Firstly, Reina was a fucking great keeper for us and Mingolet has yet to show he is near the class of Reina at his peak.

Secondly, Reina has got nothing to do with it. He is not playing for us right now. Mignolet is.

Thirdly, Mignolet has made some bad mistakes of late and they are rightly being highlighted.

The lad is 25, still young for a keeper yet to hit his peak in his first season with us. Yes he's made mistakes but he's won us just as many points.

I said it in jest obvs. I'm a huge fan of Ming.

A top class shot stopper, a bit ropey when it comes to collecting a cross or technical touches with his feet, but let's not hang him for a couple of mistakes eh?? He has been playing in front of a shabby defensive unit that readily concedes chances, he is bound to make the odd mistake. Hopefully his confidence will soar after those three late top class saves today.

Yep, and as I've been saying for a while its typical that we try to make an issue out of something that isnt there.
He's doing great and is still adapting to the club and Rodgers philosophy.

He is an upgrade on Fat Reina. A shame that Fat Reina didn't become more awesome for every cheeseburger, like Fat Elvis.

I know but it's not the first time it's been offered up as a stock response to any criticism of Mingolet (not saying it was you, I can't remember who says what).

Mingolet is still in the green as far as performances go, as has been said, but that doesn't make him immune from criticism. When he makes mistakes or has a bad game he's can be questioned just like any of the other players.

Heh, I was just going to post this. It's almost like he was Westerveld or something.

Oh I'd agree

I think the sarky responses have come because around the time of the man City /Chelsea game, some posters went on about "Reina would have saved that", as well as a few people on twitter.

It's my stock sarcastic response re: Mignolet bashing now.

I like Mignolet. A lot. Helps that he had a boss song at Sunderland though.

I was actually going to start a thread on Simon.
For me it is not so much the mistake for the third goal today. He made some superb stops to off set that somewhat.
It his reluctance to move off his line that is starting to piss me off.
Whether it is his reluctance at coming out to claim a cross that should be his or collecting a long through ball, often into our penalty area, ahead of an onrushing attacker he just fails to inspire confidence. While I miss the Pepe of the first couple of seasons I reckon he will never get back to those heights and am happy to persist with Mignolet for the time being.
But for me he is still on probation

Yeah it's a terrible thread.
He saved the penalty against Stoke first game of the season that set the tone for our season.
He's been brilliant for the most part.
Agree with most about the comparing Reina to him.
Reina won't be coming back so let's forget about him.

That song is one of the bossest ever. Can't we adopt it?

I loved the Liverpool spin someone had put on it - made it even better than the original.

The 'In the Kop goal, the Spion Kop goal, a Belgian keeps tonight'.

I thijk defenders in front of him are more culpable. The poor chap has no idea what the hell they are going to do next!

I fear it is a mixture of that and him not inspiring confidence in his defenders on front of him.
Each are culpable.

Just about sums up exactly what I feel about Ming and his performances of late. He frustrated me today so I see why this thread has popped up. He was very 'marmite' today but overall I'm happy with him.

He's been ace this season and will only get better. His distribution has improved aswell.
A solid back 4 infront of him will improve the whole team.

You only say that because its me starting it, you are like a women scorned over that Ings thread arn't you? lol.

Trust you to miss the point of it aswell, the points you make here are irrelevant, a bit like you tbh.

However fucking idiotic they might be.

No problem now tip along to the gif thread.
