Crossing isn't his forte so he checks back to look for a pass. It's one of the reasons he's always been a 6M player instead of a 20M player. As I said, he's got a good track record in terms of end product and whilst you may have witnessed a WTF moment in your eyes, you've also witnessed him win games for us so you're wrong whether you take back the comment or not.

As for the comparison thing... player exchanges happen frequently (particularly in Italian football). Are you really going to make me find some examples where a transfer involves, say, a defender and a striker plus some money to say that it's a stupid thing to do?
Yeah but it involved a midfielder and a midfielder, both whom like to play just off the striker. They might be different types of support player, but the comparison is basically who gives us enough in terms of winning games via creative passing and scoring goals. Hardly the same as drawing a comparison between a striker and defender.

I liked Yossi, didn't want him to go, especially to get Cole. That said, don't want him back.

Don't think we should get rid of Meireles, he suits the way we're playing to a tee.

Zarate just tweeted that he will go to England.

Interesting.

His agent has confirmed (Bleacher Report) that we are in for him. ;D

Yossi is an out an out attacking player who has played most of his career out wide and and he brings dribbling abiltiy and a bit of creativity in the final third to the side.

Ming has spent most of his career playing in midfield - often deployed in a more defensive role - and also as a bit of a utility player having played as a fullback and as a wide midfielder (although certainly not an attacking one like a Yossi / Kalou type player).

I don't see the two as comparable players regardless of the fact that Ming is seen as an attacking midfielder at Liverpool. It's not like Yossi would get the chance to play off the striker if he did return anyways - he'd be played out wide just as he was 95% of the time when he was at the club last time.

That would be excellent. And expensive.

The same zarate that was at brum?

Wtf? Has he become a decent player since or something? Never impressed me much there.

his agent claims he didn't know who Mussolini or Hitler are and doesn't know the significance of that salute.

I recall being very impressed by what I saw back then. Only did see a couple of games though which were probably not the same ones as you did.

He went to Lazio for €20m after that too so I guess there's a player there. Anyone care to share how he's done since, why they are selling him or how much would he cost

Aaaah. That said we've had a few racists play for us in the past, so why stop now? 😉

him and tommy smith can get together at weekends and exchange stories.

I think you can tell by his face he's just thinking 'When in Rome....'

Although this was probably taken outside the JJB.

I don't see the logic in selling Meireles, I think it would be a mistake, especially selling him to one of our rivals.

I feel like we're doing the same thing to him that we did to Alonso, a good player who's had a really good season,
who's perfectly happy and we're just auctioning him off.

I really hope we keep him

Rumours suggest Chelsea will offer Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool as part of the Meireles deal. Was only a matter of time. It's unlikely #LFC

Sturridge could be a nice 4th Striker, but would we use him enough for him to be that beneficial to us?

We'd need to replace Miereles we someone better in his position for this to be a good deal, we won't do that though.

Maybe it's the player that wants to go, it's the only logical reason we'd do this.

Sturridge is already at (or beyond) Kuyt's level and a helluva prospect so he'd be #2 and on the bench or pitch every game.

£8m + Sturridge... Errr... I'd accept. Controversial?
Not at all.

Not at all. Sturridge is going to become a £20m plus matchwinner. Meireles is always going to be a £10m-£12m midfielder at best.

Sturridge is exactly the kind of striker we need. I think if he showed good form and attitude, he'd probably partner Suarez most of the time, ahead of Kuyt and Carroll.

Seems extremely unlikely that Chelsea would let him go, but I don't see any other reason for us selling Ming.

That might be tempting, Sturridge looked great last season, but I think it leaves us short of the right cover in midfield.

regards
