Agreed. He's worth about what we got for him, would have preferred he went abroad too, but maybe his injury is something we're worried about too.

To be honest I thought we could have bent them over again. With Harry talking about 40m for Modric I thought we might gotten them to the 18-20m mark for Meireles.

Clearly we weren't that bothered about seeing him go.

Aquilani hasn't been here in ages, Cole never worked out. The only real difference is Meireles.

In reality we've brought in Adam and Henderson, and let go Meireles and Cole this summer.

Yes. And Joe Cole. Essentially, this summer we got rid of all possible Gerrard replacements except Jonjo Shelvey (and Henderson - but then who would play on the right?). Unless Gerrard comes back and stay healthy (a big, big question mark for me), we'll have a big void in attacking CM.

Have to agree, good player that he is, he only really works in a midfield three and its clear where going with a 442 this year. He isn't good enough defensively to play as one of the two in the middle which means he has to play on the wing where he hasn't the pace.

Good payer but I can see why Kenny didn't think he fit. Maybe Bellamy is his direct replacement for the wing positions?

Glass quarter full there mate, Henderson is a CM, so we have 6 players to fit into 2 positions. Aqua and Cole were never going to make it, and would sit in the reserves on aboyu £150-180k per week.

Would have loved Meireles (dropped the ming quickly there) to have stayed, but 6 into 2 doesn't go, and 7 certainly doesn't. Really grew to love him, despite his lack of a true position and bottling out of tackles but overall I'm more gutted about the cunts having him playing for them, rather than him going abroad.

We give Suarez the Modric treatment handed out by Spurs - 'NO' you can't have him. But if we don't make CL next year I have a feeling he will be let go coz other CL teams will coming knocking on our door.
