Manquillo looks to be our new Arbeloa. Gerrard found him time and time again with that big diagonal switch. Manquillo wasn't really tested but it was a nice debut for him to get used to the run of things. No idea who Rogers will play next Sunday.

Agree. I'm an Enrique fan(well, to a certain extent), but I reckon Manquillo has got himself a start against S'ton.

Early days, and the bigger tests will come but he looked very assured.

Enrique is as excellent a starter/backup (I assume to Moreno) that you can hope to have. Though Johnson actually seems to play much better on the left than he does on the right.

Was really impressive, especially the raking one Manquillo took down at pace and stretching for it.

I'm actually more excited by the Manquillo signing than Moreno as I've been saying ever since the idea of this loan was floated. I know at face value a 2 yr loan with a cast-iron option to buy doesn't sound like we are getting a great player, however for us it's a damn good deal.

This youngster has played for Spain at every age-group thru U21. I watched the full match video of him (I know it's impossible to really tell from one video), the one which tracks him throughout the whole match, and this guy looked very promising indeed; cool, determined, pacey, up & down the pitch, tricky around their area, technically gifted as you would expect, good tackler .... it's looks like there is a lot of innate ability for Brodge to work with.

After 2 years we'll know if it's going to work out or not and if it does then the purported €6m fee (plus loan fees, surely not more than €1-2m per year) is a gift. If he doesn't work out then back he goes and we haven't wasted a big fee and have trouble off-loading due to higher wages than most continental clubs.

When I was clearing out my old house I found a poster from our UEFA cup winning season. It has a box at the bottom for each player and Arphexad's had a picture of him in his Leicester kit, such were his lack of appearances for us. Poor the Peggay!

My recollection was that he was shit and Cissokho was brought in to replace him - but he got injured.

That last point is a very good one IMHO. Playing on the left seems to make him concentrate more and position himself better. We get a little less out of him from a purely attacking point of view, but the overall package is more useful to the team.
