Liverpool vs Dortmund

Nowhere else to put this without dragging up an old thread from the depths :

It's not just Liverpool who will benefit from the arrival of Dejan Lovren, according to Martin Skrtel – he believes the added competition can help bring out the best in him too.

The Croatia centre-back, a summer recruit from Southampton, made his debut against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, lining up alongside the No.37 at the heart of the Reds rearguard.
With Daniel Agger, Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure and Sebastian Coates also in the defensive ranks, rivalry for places will be fierce - but it's a challenge Skrtel will relish tackling.
"Dejan Lovren had great season with Southampton and I am really happy that he is with us," he told his official website.
"We all need competition because that is what keeps you motivated. He will make us stronger, so I really welcome his arrival - and it will only make me work harder.
"Liverpool is not only about 11 players. We will have many games this season, so every player will be important."

I love this man

Yes. Klopp seems to be a great guy.
However, throughout the second half, the camera kept finding him grimacing to himself. You could see it written all over his face, "what the fuck are we doing here right now with the super cup coming up in 3 days, playing Liverpool's starting team. "
Big mistake for them to show up in L4 on Sunday.

It's mainly gonna be the tried and trusted.

Mignolet

Johnson
Lovren
Skrtel
Enrique

Lucas/Allen/Can
Gerrard
Henderson

Coutinho
Sterling

Sturridge
After reading praise about Manquilo, I am sure, BR wont start Enrique over Manquilo....on a surprise note GJ looked better than all the previous preseason games. so I think yday line up repeated...I am guessing Allen will probably replace Can

Don't get this - why does the Super Cup concern him?

They were missing 3 or 4 starting members though, I think.

Or Skrtel himself when he was benched for Carragher at the tail end of 2012/13.

Well yeah, we've had this conversation, he got pissed off once in the 5-6 years he's been here. Agger gets fucked off everytime he's benched, even if it's on the back of him being injured. It's not really the same, is it? Skrtel's shown the right attitude more often than not when he's been out the side or when his place has been under threat.

This was a great final game to lead into the season. A nice confidence booster. We looked ace, and were really on our game-plan.

Yes, it is. They all throw their toys out of the pram. Skrtel was on the brink of leaving last summer until we found ourselves short of centre-halves.

Err.. Rodgers was the one willing to sell after making a scapegoat of him. Have you got anymore examples of when he's done this? It's not the same as Agger who's done it countless times unnecessarily. Like I said, aside from ONE occasion when he was right to feel aggrieved, his attitude has been spot on.
