Cool, we've got a cyborg in goal.

Coutinho came on for Brazil and helped turned the game around. Was 0-0 when he came on in the second half, ended 3-0. Didn't get any assists though.

Hopefully all 52000 will create an atmosphere that'll inspire the team to beat Leicester.

Wouldn't want a voodoo where we can't win in our new stadium.

It'll be an atmosphere & result to rival the last game in front of the standing Kop .

... Oh

Not sure what team we'll pick for this one. Suppose it depends on the fitness of certain players, but I'd go for this:

Mignolet

Clyne--------Lovren----------Matip----------Moreno

---------------Wijnaldum--------Henderson-----------

Mane------------------Firmino--------Coutinho---------

------------------------Sturridge-------------------------

Actually, maybe put Lallana in for Firmino. What's Can's fitness like?

I suspect we might see both Lallana and Firmino start, but that makes it hard to fit Sturridge into the team.

Moreno is there for his pace.

I like that, but maybe with Can in for Henderson if he is fit. Moreno as shit as he is would have the pace to help deal with a team that counter attacks like Leicester.

Looking at those lone striker formations, it does make me realise why some people do put Origi in teams.

He's not good enough, but he seems more capable in that role than either Sturridge or Firmino

Obviously Sturridge is easily the best finisher at the club, but his wandering means that when he's not in the middle, nobody is.

And he's also not exactly the usual robust lone striker that makes the role work, like Costa or whoever. Players like him need an actual partner. Of course that could be Firmino playing slightly behind him, in the way Beardsley did with Aldo - although Firmino is nowhere near as good - but he is all too often isolated and we don't have enough players in the box

Summing up: why the fuck didn't Klopp spend 40m on a new striker?

-------------------------Mignolet

Clyne--------Lovren-----------Matip--------Milner

----------------Lucas------------Henderson

Mané----------------Firmino------------------Coutinho

---------------------------Sturridge

I'd want us to start with this line up if possible.

Why would you start Lucas? He's shit.

Luckily, he won't. He was fucking terrible the last time we played Leicester, and we lost

I'm all for playing Can, if he's fit but he's apparently not.

Lucas, Milner, Matip and Firmino weren't on international duty and should be a bit fitter than those who travelled.

Firmino frustrates the hell out of me. Just hate the way he cheaply gives away possession, as inspiring as some of his adventurous play can be at times.
Ideally I'd have Sturridge in Firmino's spot and Origi up front. They can interchange however they like.
And I'd put Lucas in there like you. Every midfielder we've got right now can't hold their position in the middle apart from Lucas, unfortunately. Getting tired of seeing attackers getting free runs straight at our back 4 (3 when Moreno's playing).

Yeah I can definitely understand the part about Firmino. He frustrates me as well.
Another idea would be to play Lallana there. Actually i think it's a pretty good idea. Think he deserves to play.

I'm hoping Origi can reignite that streak from last season where every time you criticized him (Brendan) pre-game, he seemed to pop up with a goal.

Yeah, Lallana would probably make more sense.

This game may give us a bit more of a read on how Klopp views the squad this year. He tended to prefer Firmino in big away games last year and has done the same again this year, who he picks in the first home game will be interesting.

I'd go with:

GK Mignolet
DL Moreno
DC Lovren
DC Matip
DR Clyne
MC Milner
MC Can/Henderson (depending on fitness)
AL Coutinho
AC Lallana
AR Mané
FC Sturridge

Moreno can come back in at home, freeing Milner up for midfield. I don't think Klopp will drop Henderson for the first home game, but I don't think he's really playing well enough to justify his place right now.

I'm not even that infuriated about Firmino ceding possession. Players who try difficult passes and are more creative and incisive will always give it away more than Lucas or whoever

Admittedly sometimes he just seems to cough it up through being careless and unaware, so I do get that

But my biggest problem with Firmino is that he simply isn't a good enough finisher. He has no pace and isn't consistent enough to be the lone striker at a club like Liverpool

He's also as overrated by many as he is arguably underrated by me

But you're a bit stuck there too. Yeah, Firmino might be wasteful, but if you replace like for like and drop him for Lallana, you have a reduced goal threat right away

Firmino might not be a reliable finisher, but he's more likely to get a goal than Lallana

Yeah normally I'd never have Lallana there but he seems to be in form.

I'd worry that they are both inclined to pull wide too much to play together, you'd need to make sure there were plenty of runs into the box from midfield.

How did Henderson do against Slovakia. Got subbed like 5 min after I started watching
