The Egyptian King

He's objectively the best right forward. We've not been playing with right forwards for ages though. He's not an exceptional winger. It's odd, thinking about all the players who might have done worse or better in other eras, given their skill set. Same with what teams they were on.

He's also more comparable to a striker than not, in that for years now, he's the player with the least defensive or off the ball responsibility, and is most likely to have the ball at the end of any move.

In terms of actually being able to be better than him, in a similar position, for me it'd be Henry and Suarez. That's about it in our league, in my memory.

You can call it hatred if you like, by the way, but he is still clearly declining. I think we can get good production out of him all year. Not the way it's going so far though. Chiesa is not helping, and is looking like one of those cheap maybe it will work solutions for necessary backup, instead of having some ambition.
He’s been declining since his first season with us but still would have him above every striker since though…

Great to see Diaz and Gakpo score tonight and get on the end of two delicious crosses from Salah. No goals but two more assists for the modern day king! 👑

As I mentioned elsewhere, a decline in sheer acceleration and pace has resulted in a more thoughtful player who now uses his exceptional passing skills to more effect, as well as his trickery and shooting skills around the box which are barely in decline if at all. This may well have resulted in a better all round 'team' player. We'll see by the end of the season.

I'm very leery of the time he's going to miss for the AFCON though. That could be devastating for this team next season, hopefully we'll have a suitable backup by then but it's definitely an issue of discussion for his new contract.

I'm not sure what 'having some ambition' means in this context. No high quality goal-scoring winger will want to come here and sit on the bench, especially since Salah is supremely fit and rarely gets injured (likely because he pulls out of so many winnable 50/50s, not a criticism if it keeps him fit for us)!
That leaves us with looking at youngsters, journeymen or taking a gamble on someone like Chiesa. I'm OK with that gamble, disappointing so far but there's still time for him to have an impact this season.

Not nearly as tedious as the shite spouted about Salah for the last 10 months.

So this is essentially just a point scoring exercise for you? His numbers have never been questioned, at no point has anyone said he needs to get more goals/assists, create more chances etc. It's easier to put to the back of the mind how poor his general play has been in a number of games over the last 18 months when he's still popping up with the goods, doesn't change the perception many had of him and the fact 80% of SCM posters wanted him sold last summer.

Give it a rest, it's become more than tedious.

You have to give Dreamie a bit of slack - he cant post in his “Ange is Great” thread (although he might be tempted now they’ve strung 2 results together) and he’s still hasn’t figured out whether BRodgers had us playing better football than Shankly or Klopp in addition to all the other managers over the last 50 odd years.

In addition… Utd are shit.

Crowing about Mo is all he has left!!!

Crowing when you are right is perfectly fine and one of the most delicious treats you can have. People whining about the crowing just makes it even more delicious.

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti
He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
To score goals, but he keeps on forgettin’
How he scored last, the whole crowd goes so mad
He opens his swerve, but the ball won’t come out
He’s chokin’, how, everybody’s jokin’ now
The clocks run out, times up, over, blaow

Snap back to reality, oops there goes gravity
Oops, there goes Salah, he choked
He’s so mad, but he won’t give up that easy? No
He won’t have it, he knows his whole back’s to these ropes
It don’t matter, he’s dope, he knows that, so he's stoked
Changed his game, he knows, when he goes back to training that his speed isn't gaining
So back to the lab again, yo, this whole rhapsody
Better go capture this moment and hope it don’t pass us
Because fuck you if you don't believe
He's one he's one of the best I've ever seen

Ofcourse we did considering what the Saudis offered and knowing the owners wont add their own money for squad additions. Look at now, we face the prospect of losing him for no return

I know Gyokeres is Man U bound, but if he were to come and linked up with another hypothetical signing in marmoush, this would replace Jota who would be sold to finance the deal. Certainly on paper out attack looks very good

Actually yes plenty have repeatedly. It’s not point scoring at all. It’s pointing out how bloody incredible he is so that when he has an inevitable dip like any player (Haaland now) people might think twice before circling the wagons on him.

The disrespect is sickening and it’s laughable the revisionism on show now he’s blowing everyone at Liverpool and the league away with his contributions.
His ability to adapt his game has been nothing short of insane.

It was not long ago people questioned whether he was worth his weekly wage now nevermind in a new contract and wanted him sold as you said, which shows how stupid 80% of fans can be at times.

He’s arguably the most professional and effective player we’ve ever had.

If not for the cheating cunts up the road he’d have 4 or league titles, 3 or 4 CL’s and a hatful of other trophies and be labeled the best we’ve ever had.

So yes I will always highlight how incredible he is, even if it’s just to show how anmazingly adaptability he has been. I loved Mane but even he couldn’t adapt when his explosive speed began to decline.

Salah is in a world of his own.

The point is amongst is, certain players are due some slack at times. He will have a period like probably post Jan when he will look borderline useless but best to consider how he has done so far and before for a fair picture. I thought was rather ridiculous that end result was 80% especially with the bigger picture but that’s another can of worms…

Well maybe fans have the club's future in their minds and not tender to the needs of Salah? That's the bigger picture here. It's LFC not Salah FC. Our owners don't invest, they don't have ambitions for this club to be at the top and they realise our best shot is to sell big and hit the jackpot.

Every player in the history of the sport have to deal with criticism unfortunately, that's just how it is. Mbappe, Kane, Vini, Benzema, Messi etc - no player is immune when their standards drop the level they set. What he did 5-6 years ago was world class, but that was then and this is now......as the sport evolves, the demands of fans grows and have made them ruthless, they're not going to care about that when judging him now because the Salah of then is very different to the Salah of now......although this season he has much improved in his overall play from the last 18months 😛

There is criticism but that wasn't just that.
Get the focus on future, biggest best is to sell and hit the jackpot? Would say that is just a really short sighted money grab without any idea of it any guaranteeing a success replacement wise.
Yes, some would say some fans are fickle too🙂
It would have been a very stupid decision to move him on at any point over the last 5-6 yrs, he has always delivered regardless with consistency. If you want to sell someone and raise some money, then suggest you do that with other players but not your crown jewel. Glad the owners at least backed the management on this regard always.

I've wanted us to sell Mo whilst we'd get mega bucks for him but, realistically, it's pointless. Whatever we got for him, a replacement wouldn't match his output. May as well keep him now till he goes toes up.
Those sentences make it sound like an effort or a chore to keep him, obvs it's not, he's one of our best ever. I just don't think the 'resale value' approach works here. I did before, I don't now.

The Egyptian national team, led by Hossam Hassan, has decided to exempt Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player, from being with the team in the November camp.

A source explained in exclusive statements to Al-Shorouk that Hossam Hassan decided to exempt Mohamed Salah from the national team's upcoming camp.

The source indicated that the decision to rest Salah came because our national team will play its first match on an artificial turf pitch, and the second match against Botswana will be played at Cairo International Stadium, and it is not normal to call Salah up to play one match.

A national team in being sensible shocker. I’m sure Salah’s status plays into this; they definitely don’t want all the backlash were he get injured on that artificial pitch.

He's told them he's signing an extension with Liverpool and one of the conditions is that he either significantly reduces his time on the national team or retires altogether.

Bit disappointed he didn't choose the latter

He’ll want one last crack at the AFCON while he thinks he can win it - and he’ll likely want to go to the World Cup in the US next season.

My money is on a whole host of players trying to end their international career after the WC - for us Virgil, Ali, Robbo, Mo…

Which would be bearable if he continues to drop out of meaningless matches and just turns out for the big ones & the tournaments
