Bajcetic actually looks pretty weak. Def not able to be a starter as a 6 right now. Needs probably another year of bulking and to get some power.

We def need to sign a 6, esp if Macca/Gravy isn't gonna be deployed there.

I'm not watching the game. Just came in and saw the scoreline 3-0 against the mancs. Damnnnn.

How are we playing so far ?

Is it full on total football ? sexy slotball ? or just a very poor manc team ?

To be fair, we haven't actually played that well.

Worst game of the tour so far. A lot of mistakes in playing out of the back. Lucky not to be 3-3, United have had a lot more chances. A lot of them due to our mistakes in possession.

Doak’s cameo so far hahaha. Brilliant little foot in from Endo to win ball back and set that move off.

Judging by this American leg of the pre-season, we’re going to destroy all the opposition witn Slot-ball this season and we don’t really need to buy anyone.

Probably not entirely correct impression, mind you, but it could have hardly gone any better. And the team doesn’t feel stale even without new transfers because there are so many young players who are pushing to get into the first team.

I could be wrong but it looks like Endo is doing his utmost to show Slot that he too can be attacking and progress the ball forward.

So much to like about our football. Great passing moves - even with the youngsters - pressing, much quicker passing. Even the youngsters, on after 65-70 mins, played the same way and often had United furiously back pedaling.

Question for everyone: we all talk how we’re playing in different way compared to Klopp’s football, but how is Slot-ball different to Pep’s or Arteta’s football from what you’ve seen so far? For me personally, it looks REALLY different - will expand later.

To be fair, we have to account for having the youngsters in the team - there were times under Klopp, particularly in pre-season, when the youngsters played more exciting combination football than the senior players. Some of what we attribute to Slot-ball might still be simply the effect of having lots of eager young players around - we are yet to see how it will look with Virgil, Robbo, Trent, Macca and Nunez.

We have a great core of players who are going to be very sharp for the first few games, allowing us to gently bring back those who had a long summer.

I’m expecting all of these to start against Ipswich - Bradley, Quansah, Jones, Elliot, Salah, Jota.

Surprisingly Gravy has played quite well.

Gravy has been surprisingly good and hardworking

Gravy has been really good today.

His first touch, passing, movement and body feints.

If he improved his tackling, aggression and defensive awareness, no reason why he should be starting in this team over CJ.

I turned it on after 25 minutes or so, but isn’t Gravvy playing as our #6? Looking good too.

Well, from the time I started watching it definitely looked like Gravvy was at #6 and Jones st LCM - he would not arrive in the box for his goal otherwise. Gravvy looked very natural collecting the ball and progressing, also made a couple of nice tackles. Could he be an answer?

Cool as you like Sepp

Lovely ball Grav
Allllllllll aboard the gravy train. CHOO FUCKING CHOO.

looks like klopp and co’s parting gift is a good bunch of youngsters and a strong uk and ireland group in the squad for a change

i don’t remember the last time we could field an alright back 5 and midfield from the british isles

not everyone will make it but it’s a great stab at meeting homegrown quotas for years to come barely spending a penny

Gravy played well. Ibou looked rusty but thats understandable. Thought Bajcetic played well when he came on. Great to see the turns and close control is still there. Needs time though.

Doak really needs to work on his decision making and end product. A loan move were he could play regularly and at a high level would be great. A top Championship side would be very good.

Bradley is fucking excellent, it's getting to the point where he has to start, really.

Quansah and Elliott are both pretty much there too. That's basically 3 first team players who've come through in the last year.

Then there are really promising players like Morton, Bajcetic, Doak, Sepp, and even Carvalho who look ready for the squad. That's before we even get into the other half dozen or so very promising youngsters who might be a year or two off.

We shouldn't really be adding numbers to this squad. We've already got too many to handle. If we go and sign a specialist "6" then we should only really do it if we genuinely think the likes of Morton and Bajcetic will never be good enough, because they're both nearly ready for a go at it, from what I can see.
