That's like asking how many successful 6'6 wingers have you seen in the Prem, it's an illogical question to ask.

Why is it illogical? Tell me how being a 6'6 winger is beneficial for the position. If you can find one who is agile and quick, then fucking bring him on. I'd sign him today.
Of the top, maybe 20, PL defenders that I've seen, none of them is shorter than 180 cm. Or 5'11.

I remember Parker and during his Man U days he was playing at RB, wasn't he?
Like I said, it,s the pre-manc Parer I loved, when he was at QPR. From Wiki :

Parker started his career with Fulham before joining QPR,[1] where he made his name as a nippy and incisive centre back, even though he lacked the height normally associated with his position.

He used to impress me then and I thought he would be great in a Liverpool team. Back then I was slightly more knowledgeable about football than now, but that's a low bar so I was still quite thick.

I'm not saying it's impossible to be a 5'9 CB in the Prem. But I just haven't seen a successful team have one as a core player in the team.

That's how you talk about one of the true greats of the game? Sheesh ...
Hard to tell, because Italy always play a defence minded game. Also, I like the natural seurity that height brings on set pieces. Times have changed , I think defenders should be minimum 6ft in our team, and that is at the lowest end. Strikers find tall defenders like Konate, VVD amd even Matip a problem. We need 6ft plus bulky pacey mother fuckers at the back.

You tell me, how many successful 5'9 CB's have you seen in the Prem?

How many successful Egyptians did you see in the prem before Salah?
How many 7'6" beanpole strikers did you see scoring 10+ goals in the premier league before Crouch?

He’d plainly not be under consideration as a straightforward Cb in a back four, given our shift towards Trent’s new positioning (so in possession he’d be one of the three cbs alongside some units in Vvd and Konate ) and need for proper DM competition.

I can absolutely see this happening.
Yes, this. Plus of course not only may Klopp see him as a DM but given how we play such a high line then even in a CB ; pace, agility, vision and tackling are far higher priorities than pure height.

People are going on about this man's height as possible DM but that didn't stop Kante from being awesome

For a DM, it is not about the height, it is about the body structure. Kante has the right body structure for a DM.

& again I'll say, it's not about the qualities you don't have.....it's about the qualities you do have, Kante for example exceeds in the areas of his game he excels at which is why he was 1 of the best in his position, same could go for Matic......I'm sure there were many worried Chelsea fans who thought he was "too slow" to adapt and succeed to the pace of the Prem.

When Carra first returned to the CB position and wasn't doing too well there, one or two on here at the time began to nickname him "Log". This guy better hit the ground running or he's next.

Swing your partner 'round and 'round
End of the night, it's goin' down
One more shot, another round
End of the night, it's goin' down

Anyone prepared to go against the grain and criticise this potential transfer?
Let's just pray we get enough bodies in. Klopp can turn most players into world beaters (other than goalies). Despite my early skepticism, I think Klopp will get the funds he needs to get decent players, and I am hopeful.
