I actually think he could do a job still off the striker as Rafa, I assume, had initially planned. He could play a sort of "Totti" role, and not have to move much, while threading balls through, and scoring goals as he's still one of the best finishers in this squad.

However, as Macca has pointed out, I think/hope he will grow into this role. He needs to start thinking more callously and tactically, whereas in the past he was more gung ho in his approach.

Yeah, I wanted to see that tried out as well but I guess now we have a couple players that are more suited, e.g. Coutinho.

He can't play DM as he doesn't read the game well enough, he can't play CM as his legs aren't what they were, he can't play AM because he seems terrified of shooting from range ad well as the previously mentioned leg issues.

Any position he plays in now is of detriment to the younger players we should be trying to develop.

I think he should be a rotational player playing in different positions depending on opposition and current squad need.

Still a great player, but we're gonna have to drop him eventually for the good of the team.

I agree on points, he offers so much going forward from the DM position but he's prone to make mistakes, and from that position they can destroy us

Hello @Nightman - Welcome to the site. I hate talking about the eventual (and inevitable) downfall of Gerrard but to a point I agree with you. Sucks though doesn't it. I wish we had the Gerrard 2004/2005 version 🙁
