I don't have a problem with a player going down when there's an actual foul on him which the ref.would otherwise have missed. Contact isn't automatically a foul though.
As long as an opponent can be penalised for contact deemed to be "foul," players will always go down easily regardless of who they are, its natural human mentality to exploit any resources that come your way, and would be for a player desperately trying to win a match for his team.

Going down "easily" doesn't cover Gerrard in glory, but hes not an all out no contact diver, and there are many worse. If you've ever shouted at a Liverpool player on the tv "damn, he should have gone down there after a player has "honestly" kept his feet inside the area," it shows our often hypocritical nature on this subject.

IMO Stevie does need to be in the 2 for now but, when Aquaman is fit, our first choice 2 should be Aquaman and Mascher with Stevie playing off Torres again (though Aquaman does more forward running from midfield than Xabi did, so I suspect Stevie and he will dovetail quite a bit when he does get into the team).
What the fuck does IMO mean? If it is another abreviated rape of the English language like LOL then stick to facebook. By vertue of the fact you have time to be on here mean you surley have the time to write the full words. ???............
What the fuck do "abreviated", "vertue" and "surley" mean? Surely if you have enough time to be on here you have enough time to choose words that are actually part of the English language. No? 😉

Bosh isn't in the English language, however, it is a word used for walking someone gently in to a very obvious tarp....sorry trap! 😛

Keep Gerrard up behind Torres.

It makes everything a little bit more immediately dangerous for the opposistion IMO.

You are right tho he is nifty at centre mid as well.

In the immortal words of the Bard from Act 3, Scene 5 of "Hamlet", go fuck yourself.

IMO you're a cunt.

We played a 4-2-3-1 yesterday, not a 4-4-2, we aren't gonna play a 4-4-2 as long as Torres is healthy. Torres is a CF and looks much less effective with a true striking partner. Gerrard back in midfield is very good right now because it gets our 5 best attackers all in at once. But all of you who have convince yourselves that Gerrard has been dropped back because Rafa came to some sort of revelation don't be too shocked because its a huge possibility we are going to see Masch/Lucas in midfield again on Saturday.

Quite

Gerrard also goes looking for the contact, too.

I personally think in the past two games he has been less effective than when he plays behind torres
And the results?
2 clean sheets and 4 goals and 2 wins.

now this thread is looking even more accurate.

Stevie in the middle enables others to score more FACT.

He will score less than last year but the difference will be made up by others scoring more

We now have more than two goal options and the extra assist option of yossi

Stevie in the middle is the future, unless Aqua fella is a god.

And BTW is it just me or is Lucas improving 😱 look over your shoulder masher

You only put that last bit in to justify your insistence that Stevie has to stay as a CM.  Lucas is improving somewhat, but (a) he got more stick than he deserved last season anyway and (b) he will never, ever be even half as good at DM as Mascher.

How does that work?

The "assist option of yossi" is of no relevance as to where Gerrard start.

Lucas is doing well.
Up to a point, Lord Copper. On the one hand, I don't think last season's Lucas was as bad as some made out. On the other, this season's model is still - IMHO of course - a bits and pieces player who's filling a gap but lacks genuine excellence in any particular area of the game. To illustrate the point, I can't see Barca switching their attention to him if they can't get Mascher.

Ha ha, no, that's right. But he's starting to play some really clever balls now. I think he's progressing impressively.

erm, because he is playing

last season we had riera and and dirk on the flanks alot, yossi on the bench.

now he is mainly a 1st teamer because we have room for him with stevie in the midfield.

what happens when stevie moves up again, yossi on the left.

the attacking 5 yesterday is our best chance of wiining this league, stick with it.

is aqualini disciplined enough to replace masher?

Might as well drop this subject because we all know as soon as Aquilani has slotted in Gerrard will be back to AM.
BTW - it is of very little use using a match against the likes of Stoke & Hull as a yardstick.

Whether the team misses him at AM may be seen in the next few days, away at Fiorentina and then, particularly, at Chelsea. It is in the big matches that we may see the difference.

Aquilani excels as an AM too...doesn't he?

Aquilani isn't an AM Max. He's an attacking midfielder a la Gerrard (when he plays in midfield) but with a different skill set.
