I'm not arguing that 12-15 mill for Eriksen is a steal.
But hopefully over time, 6 mill for Alberto will be the same.
Our scouting team have been very good the 8 months its been up and running.
I've got every faith in them these days.

If as Cloggy reckons he'll go for £12m, considering the standard of league he's performed in and the level he's performed at, it would seem a good deal considering what we paid for Alberto.

Nobody else in. Last year of contract. I can not see it being more. I like him myself. He does need more goals but he is also only 21 and he is adding them.

Well we were going to pay £25m for a one hit wonder in the Russian league, with many people happy for us to do so, so I don't know why people are scoffing at Eriksen at less the price.

I assume its because Mhktaryian scored more goals and had longer left to run on his contract. They are both quality players who would instantly improve our first XI so I wouldn't complain about signing either one, Eriksen is still available so I say lets sign the fucker up. Value in football is a relatively abstract concept.

You would think 85 million for Bale would be good value for Spurs but they disagree. Most people around here reckon Suarez is a better player and yet nobody is willing to pay half of that for him. The only real value a player has is what his selling club is prepared to accept, the market dictates the value

Suarez is shop soiled and damaged goods and therefore people are waiting for fire sale.

Suarez is a rat, sadly we are a sinking ship. I would be fucking delighted if we signed Eriksen or fischer and I have no clue what either is like. I completely understand why we've made the transfers we have so far and squad strengthening is undoubtedly important but our foot dragging for first teamers is driving me insane and making me think that we are waiting to unload Suarez and that 20M at chrimbo was our proverbial bolt and we have shot it already.

8M on a kid none of us know anything about, another 8M on a back up striker and 10M on a goaly we didn't need other than for his cheap wages... Oh and Toure....

I'd be delighted if we signed a player who is good that people have actually heard of sometime soon.

And Toure might end up being a very good signing.

Apart from those two, I'm quite underwhelmed so far.
Aspas seems to be the not as good version of Suarez and Alberto is meh so far.
Hope we sign Eriksen.

What exactly were your expectations?

To get a really exciting attacker.

Or are you talking about my expectation of Aspas himself? He's a very decent player. But not as quick as articles had me believe, not as skilful as articles made out.
He seems to want to work very hard for the team and fortunately seems to have an eye for a goal, but he's no Suarez when one on one, or one on two even as is so unique about Suarez.

You mentioned him being not as good as Suarez in two consecutive posts. I assumed that's why Whirly asked what your expectations were.

This is really trivial though.

I'm saying I wanted an exciting attacker (and before that, I said it was an underwhelming transfer window so far).
Suarez is a great example of an exciting attacker. I could have used any other exciting attacker's name. But Suarez is comparable to Aspas because of his industry, aggression, and his position.
I think it's quite easy to understand. I'd hope so anyway.

There's some business left to be done this window absolutely, which Rogers has made very clear, but I don't think it's fair to complain about Aspas because he isn't Suarez. While friendlies are a very limited look at players, I would say Aspas definitely looks like a bargain when you compare his production, wages, and cost.

Aspas might be our fourth best attacker as it stands, behind Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho, and that says something about the quality we lack. On the other hand, we aren't exactly building a squad of Galacticos, so it's nowhere near a raw deal for us.

To be honest, the reason is that Eriksen looks like half the player Mkhitaryan is.

Mkhitaryan = goals. Eriksen = Luis Alberto.
To be fair that's just on youtube. But what else is there to go by?

Dude he got like 13 goals last season. That's better than any of our current mids.

Eriksen scores plenty as Modo says.

I think Aspas was a good punt for 7M. We needed another player to avoid relying too much on Sterling again and of course Downing. Alberto is more questionable at this point in time but that's largely because none of us know anything about him - I'm hopeful.

I assume most people saw Aspas as the long over due replacement for Bellamy, a handy squad player who can play a couple of positions along the forward line and chip in with goals, I never considered him as a competitor/replacement for Suarez, hes just not that sort of player

I see him as more of a replacement for Kuyt.
