The situation you are describing, in its entirety, if accurate is a condemnation of owners and management, not klopp. They allow funds but they are misused? That's not how funds are allowed, it's never been how this team has operated. If there isn't a group, all rowing in the same direction on significant decisions, then the owners have just let the club drift.

It’s been clear that we’re drifting for a few years now. Just took a while for us to stop.

Nunez and Gakpo were terrible signings in light of were our squad is - they are not terrible players, but the inability to pump that 110 million into 2-3 midfielders will see us out of the CL and struggling to get the players who would have come to us happily if we were in the CL.
Remember, we are not Man U who can pay huge wages to entice players to give up their CL dreams.
If I'm bellingham, I go to Madrid and compete for the league every year for a decade ... Same with any midfielder who a top club wants ...
It's insane how quickly we've fallen ... but but, we almost won a quadruple last year ...

This is why I don’t blame the owners like most [fashionably] do. This is on the coaching staff.

These players nearly reached the pinnacle of European football less than eight months ago, and people here think that the only solution is to throw money because Klopp has done nothing to arrest the rot.

Even Eddie Howe is getting a tune out of his team.

When you have no midfield and play a system which puts tremendous pressure on a defense without a legit midfield, you cannot compete.

Big sam would have us getting better results imo.

I see what you're saying, but Eddie Howe and Klopp's situations aren't similar.
Howe's task is to get Newcastle to progress. Klopp's is about maintaining a position in the top 4. Even challenging for a league title.
From my perspective it seems to me that Klopp's job, considering the squad we have, is a whole lot easier.

I think so too, but I hadn't worded my reply well at all.

Imagine if we bought a midfielder. Man, we'd still be the same, but we'd have something else to moan about (like out shit defending, shit attacking, lack of depth, lack of plan b, etc)

We don't need a midfielder, we need 3! A new RB and a new CB. Just to start.

To be fair we were doomed in this match with the poor grammar in the tread title. Its "2nd January", not "2nd of January". The "of" is used in spoken English, not in written English.

FFS - the small details matter

Does no one ever listen?

Fucking Hell. Remove those viking balls and eat them for breakfast

Well, that was shite. I see united are playing well, is it written in some prophecy somewhere that one team will be crap while the other is decent??

While we’re all beating up on Klopp, I have to bring up another data point that Joe Gomez is a comically bad defender and should have definitely been sold to help raise funds for a midfielder with the dependable Nat Phillips taking his place. It might be a small detail in the grand scheme of things, but I think it’s symptomatic of the same kind of thinking that got us in trouble in other areas as all - taking a path of least resistance and not being proactive about the rebuild.

Safe to have a punt on no clean sheet again for us I guess?

[article] De Zerbi’s men have an expected goals against total of 23.8, a figure only five teams can better.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have an xG against total of 28.7. Only six teams have a higher total this season.[/article]

Maybe I shouldn't let my loyalty affect decision. 😳🤓

I’m with you on this.

I was a big fan of Joe but he seems to be mentally fried.
