The good thing about last night was the back 5 getting a complete rest well except for Konate with 5 minutes. 😀
Tsimikas deserves to start and the same for Gakpo.

Slot saying that none of the injured players will be back until after the international break.

Competition for places hotting up at Anfield

Arne Slot says he is worried about his striking options but the violins are not playing yet for a head coach who still has Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Núñez at his disposal, 12 wins in 14 matches at Liverpool and a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals courtesy of Wednesday’s win at Brighton. Gakpo produced two finishes of the highest quality at the Amex Stadium, where Slot started with an innovative front two of Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai. That pairing is unlikely to be repeated when the teams meet again at Anfield but it will be intriguing to see whether Gakpo retains his place on the left. The competition between the Netherlands international and an in-form Díaz is growing, although the former has been handed only two starts in the league this season. Both had a telling impact at Brighton and Gakpo’s versatility also ensures Slot’s options remain the envy of most. Andy Hunter

Another test this week. Great to see such hot competition between Gakkers and Diaz for the position on the left. The injury to Jota gives Nunez a chance to get some confidence and consistency. This should be a good game and I think we'll win it though by the odd goal. If we do, this really will have been an extraordinary start to the season.

Odd goal??? Like 5-0????

What's happened to Gakpo? I know I mentioned it last season but he seems to be going through the motions and being really average and then boom.

The thing that is so weird he looks like he's jogging and he murders everyone for pace. Like an antelope leaving a lion for dust. Doesn't seem real when you're watching it.

Salah's legs move like you're watching a cartoon, and he's quick, but I'd say Gakpo is quicker than him and he looks like he's wandering around a library. How does it make sense?
There was a game last season where a counter attack was on, Salah, Nunez were involved in the run, and Gakpo more than kept up with them both. Its a case of maybe slow acceleration from Gakpo, while the other 2 have are just quicker initially.
