The training regimen is set up to maximise the players fitness for the run in. And when we get those injured players back, and the new players adapt to the tactics, and when Nunez learns how to finish...

...we'll be 20 points behind 4th
4th was long gone anyway. The team's fundamental identity was off-ball creation, winning duels in midfield and CBs defending long balls 1v1. It's all completely broken. The attackers who lead the press - Diaz, Jota and Firmino are all injured. The midfielders are all 30+ and are simply not capable of winning duels anymore. VVD and Konate are probably still capable of defending 1v1, but that requires everything ahead of them working well.

The criticisms of Salah or Trent miss the wood for the trees.

Trent must be taking the piss with that "pretend" effort at defending. Surely?

He runs towards the attacker, the attacker runs past him, and he jogs along nonchalently.

We’re often overdramatic here on match thread, but in this case everyone is spot on I think. It really is that bad. What I cannot accept is how Brighton look classier than us, like a genuinely more high-caliber team, playing with patience, knowing they got us all figured out, knowing they can take us apart at will. There were other low points, but I don’t remember ever seeing genuine mediocrity under Klopp.
It's amazing what a balanced midfield does for a club.

This is on Klopp, not the owners. We have spent the guts of £100m on players we didn't need.
On klopp!
Today is on Klopp yes, starting Fab Ox and Hendo is a crime but we spend less than bottom half teams....this is LFC, we have the 4th biggest turnover after Madrid Barca and Utd.

Did anyone actually think we'd get a result today? Hell, even a performance?
Klopp and his staff, maybe, but I doubt even the players thought so.

But I think the season is write off. We’ll rebuild again, starting from next season but only if Klopp actually believes that midfield is gone. If he doesn’t, we’re stuffed.

I wouldn't be confident that any team we can currently put out would beat Brighton.

At least you can learn something new though, while losing.

Thing is, it makes it so much harder to rebuild from a position of weakness like we are. We've missed so many chances to supplement this rotting midfield and elsewhere, but we've just been sat playing with our dicks

Every great manager had a period when they look clueless at times. It’s not east to turn around a sinking ship.

He did change things earlier in the season, when we looked just as clueless though.
We sat back. were compact and ground out some low scoring wins. 442, or what it was.

We've got 90 plus points season after season but City have been a tiny bit better. The first season they look vulnerable and we're fucking shite. Fuck off God you fucking dick.

Nah it's our own doing. Had we steadily added to the midfield and the squad over the past couple of years, we'd be in a much better position. We got complacent. It's our own fault.

Do we though? Big money on Diaz a year ago. Nunez in the summer. Now Gakpo. We're never going to match City, Chelsea or United spending. Just is how it is.

Fsg certainly are stopping madcap spending, but let's not pretend like spunking 40m on another winger wasn't entirely on klopp and his team
At the end of Quad attempting season we knew we needed a rebuild, MAne was not going to sign another deal, and they went for replacing Mane with Nunez. And the Nunez sale had to be paid for by Sales. FSG were not going to sanction any net transfers. Klopp probably begged for a MF and they get Mello, how much Klopp had a say in that transfer or was it, that's the best we can do.
Jota gets injured followed Diaz, we wait till Jan, they address the striker shortage, and not many were grumbling at the signing of Gakpo.

THIS IS ALL TO DO WITH FSG - HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO REBUILD A SQUAD WHILST DEALING WITH INJURY ISSUES WHEN YOUR BUDGET IS THE SAME SIZE AS SOUTHAMPTON?

PEOPLE SHOULD PROTEST OUTSIDE ANFIELD WITH "FSG OUT!!!" IT MIGHT FORCE THEM TO TOTALLY SELL.
