Re: Stewart. Said last week that I think he's shown a good defensive side - the ability to step in, intercept the ball, block passes and stop opponents' attacks - but he still doesn't contribute much in our attacking buildup. In other words, he's basically a younger Lucas at this point. He has to start showing that he has an attacking edge to his game if he wants to play more under Klopp. In selecting Henderson and Can as his starting pair, I think Klopp has shown his preference for CMs with better imagination in attack and greater passing range. I suppose in Klopp's scheme of things, the collaborative trapping and pressing in midfield diminishes the need for an individual who is a defensive midfield specialist most of the time.
The preference for a more well-rounded CM is also a reason why I fancy Brannagan to be the one who has the better chance of making it, even though it's Stewart getting the minutes now.
