Is it just me that isn't overly impressed by Stewart? Started off well enough but has looked average in the last couple games for me.

I don't think you should expect too much from a young player who has just got into the team. He isn't spraying Hollywood passes all over the place, but he hasn't done anything wrong either. He has been solid and done the right things. Give him time to build up a bit of confidence.

I expected / expect nothing from him - what we've gotten so far is a massive bonus. More than anything I'm relating my thoughts on him to the (what seems to be) pretty positive feedback he gets on here and the consensus forming that he is a squad player to be relied on going forward.

This isn't just about Klopp for me, but for all the criticism of the club, you've got to argue that it's impressive we were able to field a completely different team, with enough players "of standard" and get a good win away from home in the PL. We've a manager that can bring the best out of two different sets of players. Now that's man -management. Time will tell if it's also decent work developing youth.

Missed the game today, but yeah Stewart has looked a bit average the majority of times I've seen him. Stewart's passing can be erratic and he makes some basic errors. His stats don't reflect it because he makes a lot of safe Lucas passes, but it's true nonetheless. Certainly not writing him off. He can come in and do a job for us, but no more at this stage.

I'd be surprised if Randal made it with us.

Good to hear of Ibe, Ojo and Sturridge playing well. It's a really pleasing win overall.

I think he can be an effective squad option ... We don't need a world beater, just good options so the real money can be spent on proper class ... It's something the Mancs did so long, always backing up their big buys with solid, home grown performers (Evans, Butt, O'shea etc)

Thought Klopp had gone with one or two youngsters too many but ultimately we looked pretty comfortable and got much needed improvement from Ibe and to a lesser extent Sturridge.

He's certainly not very cultured. He might make a reasonable utility player if he sticks at it, though.

Nice one! Thanks for the updates lads. I managed to catch the last 20mins on a stream GK posted up.

And no @Red Mullet and @Best Believe It - I'm not on holiday. Let's just say I'm here for medicinal reasons and the 'hotel' I'm staying at only give me access to my phone once a week. All is cool though 😎
Haven't read the rest of the thread but sounds like you are in rehab for alcohal abuse

That should end the Lucas as a centre back experiment, he was really poor and constantly exposed by King for pace. Allen was really good, Sturridge and Firmino looking sharper by the game thankfully.

Re: Stewart. Said last week that I think he's shown a good defensive side - the ability to step in, intercept the ball, block passes and stop opponents' attacks - but he still doesn't contribute much in our attacking buildup. In other words, he's basically a younger Lucas at this point. He has to start showing that he has an attacking edge to his game if he wants to play more under Klopp. In selecting Henderson and Can as his starting pair, I think Klopp has shown his preference for CMs with better imagination in attack and greater passing range. I suppose in Klopp's scheme of things, the collaborative trapping and pressing in midfield diminishes the need for an individual who is a defensive midfield specialist most of the time.

The preference for a more well-rounded CM is also a reason why I fancy Brannagan to be the one who has the better chance of making it, even though it's Stewart getting the minutes now.

I don't think he is going to make it with us. It is not sufficient to just be able to recycle the ball. He doesn't tackle that well nor have the strength or speed; physically he is just very average. He passes sideways and backwards most of the time and looks to offer nothing going forward. I suspect this is all him we are watching now, there is not going to be any upside. He would not be better than Lucas and is not good enough for a top side.

Matches like these make me think we should break the bank for a another top class finisher.

We won because largely to studge, . being so clinical.

Probably had drawn that game with bentakek up front..

As clinical as he was, he still missed a boatload

Hit the bar, hit the post, skied a few.

I've said it from the beginning that I wasn't impressed with Stewart and that he'd probably not make the first team in the long run and everyone was dissing me calling me crazy.

I hope he makes it but unfortunately there's nothing much in his game so far to convince otherwise.

He's not even close to a Danny Murphy and Danny was bang average.
