Would be nice to be linked to a young, ball playing DM who looks a bit like Xabi !

The original rumors that we were interested in him started before we signed Milner ... Hopefully, there's some fire behind this smoke as 22 million euros would be a good deal - a welcome addition.

If we spend wisely, that £50m from Sterling could strengthen our side immeasurably.

Chances of us doing that, though?

[article=http://www.marca.com/en/2015/06/21/en/football/real_madrid/1434875420.html]Liverpool are strongly pushing to get Asier Illarramendi.

The Anfield club made an initial offer of €15 million for the Spanish central midfielder that was flatly refused by Real Madrid. However, the Reds board have decided to up their bid by almost half.

The Whites now have an offer of €22 million on the table for Illarra. The club are happy with the figure being proposed by Liverpool, which is close to the €25 million bid by Athletic in last winter's transfer window, and are ready to sell Illarra for that amount. The thinking at Real Madrid is that the sale would cover a decent part of what they paid for the player, who arrived at the 'Merengues' in the summer of 2013 for close to €35 million.

Either way the decision is in the hands of Rafa Benítez. If the manager gives the deal the all-clear, Illarramendi will become a Liverpool player. If not, the ex-Napoli boss will state the player is not up for sale and Illarra will stay at Real Madrid for another season.[/article]

Quality player, hes more mobile and physical than Xabi but doesnt read the game as well, the comparison is based mainly on the fact that he has a ginger beard and an insane eye for a pass

Doesn't feel right. One of those long running nothing stories I reckon.

Yea.
I reckon there have been enough reports from the right sources saying that our inward business will be done with Benteke, to dismiss most if not all of these stories.

Rodgers said today that we might do some business.
All depends on sales I imagine.

I would imagine there are some players that fall into the category that he is happy to keep/happy to sell, so I guess if one of them were to go then they would need to be replaced.

I would welcome this lad.... The only thing I dissaprove about it is what Rodgers will refer to him as "young" Illara as an excuse if the team doesnt perform and its all down to age of the squad...

Yeah, I imagine one of them are Lucas.

They just wont give it up. Now using 'fichajes.net' as a source.

[article]Brendan Rodgers looks set to continue his summer revamp of Liverpool’s squad after launching a £13.9million transfer offer for Real Madrid’s Asier Illarramendi.
The Reds boss is keen to improve his first-team options in this transfer window, and has plenty of cash to spend following Raheem Sterling’s move to Manchester City.
Reports in Spain claim an official approach has been made for the 25-year-old midfielder, who has been told by new boss Rafa Benitez that he has no future at the Bernabeu.
Fichajes.net say a €20m offer has be submitted and is likely to be accepted by Madrid as it would allow them to recoup the majority of the fee they paid Real Sociedad for Illarramendi’s services two years ago.
