Andy Carroll In Danger Yo !

Im sensing that Glen doesnt like Carroll.
Dunno why i feel that way, just a gut feeling.
Actually i didn't like him at first but have no problem with him now. At first i just thought he was a lazy shyte as he didn't seem to be making any effort on the ptich. Talk about gym sluggishness all you want but he looked like he couldn't be arsed, and it wasn't until the newcastle game did he finally start to make an effort. But come near the end (for whatever reason) he started putting more effort on the pitch so i had no issue with him. He'll never be a favourite of mine because like i said i thought he didn't make any effort, he more just expected us to work round him was the feeling i was getting from him. But im cool with him and if kenny had stayed i'd have had no problems with him starting matches. But under this new way i think he will be totally lost as he doesn't have the attributes to play in the way rodgers wants his front 3 that's all. Its nothing against him.

I don't get the lazy tag. Carroll looked slow as fuck upfront & so he constantly tracked back to the stuck in. The only thing I'd question was he didn't seem to run back up but he clearly knew he couldn't get ahead of defenders so was trying to play deeper.

He did a serious amount of defending, myself & a few other joked about him looking like a cb, t
You don't get that tag being lazy.

We've all been making excuses for Carroll every now and again since he signed, in one way or another. If the king was still in charge he'd have a place, no doubt about that. But he's not, and Carroll doesnt fit with this new system. Even that thread with the poll for Carroll or Agger is null and void in a footballing sense because even if Agger does go, Carroll wont play, so everybody loses! Andy will become a great center forward eventually, and will probably stick a few past us in years to come, but he has to go back to newcastle imo.

I'd like him to play 45 mins at least against Leverkusen regardless. Just to see how he performs.

With Rodgers pushing the team further up the pitch, Andy will be around the penalty box a lot more often, where he should be aswell.

I feel this manager will live or die by his system. There'll be no accommodating players.

Yeah, I know. But Rodgers have pushed the entire team up the pitch. Enrique said he and Glen Jo are almost attackers. You could see it against Gomel that we committ much more players forward. When Lucas wins the ball and plays it forward there are at least 3 options available. Last season our attackers were isolated. Getting Carroll in the penalty box will mean more chances and more space for the others.

His movement is the big question though. But I'd like to see him given a go on sunday.

If Newcastle bid 15 mill I guess he's gone.

I also believe that the treatment he got during the Newcastle game made him realise that he was no longer the darling of the Geordies and that he now needed to win us over, hence the upturn in his performances since then.
Unfortunately for him though, it doesn't seem like that's gonna make much of a difference to BR.

Thats where the team should be playing at home if we're to adapt the swansea model from last season. Its away from home where the system will be put to the test. Because its away from home where swansea were at their weakest last season.

On the other point, the further up the pitch we play the less Carroll should get a look. He's not quick enough nor is his touch good enough to play quick compact football. I wish he was and that he could vindicate his price tag but we're better off rid of I'm afraid.

LIVERPOOL legend Sami Hyppia has taken a pot-shot at Andy Carroll by declaring: I’d love to play against him!

Misfit Carroll has failed to fire since his £35million from Newcastle.

The striker has hit the net just nine times in 47 appearance and is being touted around by new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

And former Liverpool defender Hyppia said: “I can’t say that I am a fan of Andy Carroll.

“If I had to play against him? Well, I would rather that to playing against Luis Suarez, for sure.

“For the type of player he is, that would suit me better than a player like Suarez.”

Hyppia made 464 appearances for Liverpool and is guaranteed a warm welcome when he brings his Bayer Leverkusen side to Anfield tomorrow.

And the Finn reckons there is still some talent in the Reds’ ranks.

He added: “Steven Gerrard has been a top player for years now and he is getting a bit older and wiser.

“Daniel Agger is a very, very good centre-half. Hopefully he can stay fit and play the whole season without injury. He can then show how good a player he really is.

“Suarez is a very good player. I think I would hate to play against him.”

It's like asking Hyypia "would you rather be up against Messi or Mario Gomez?".
He says "Messi".
Conclusion: Well in that case Gomez is the worst player in the world.
Doesn't make sense.

Carroll isn't right for us.

Not his fault - but we need to move him on.

These things happen.

Pre-match press conference

"It's good to be back at Anfield," he said.

"We have the last game of our preparation and hopefully we can play a good game and of course we want to win. Tomorrow we will try to win. There's nothing wrong with it now because I represent another club, hopefully I get a good reception from the Liverpool fans.

"I would like to come back here but I haven't really thought about it."

The second managerial tenure of Liverpool favourite Kenny Dalglish ended in the off season, with Brendan Rodgers recruited from Swansea City to replace the veteran Scotsman.

Hyypia declined to offer an endorsement of the decision, preferring to wish the club well as they seek a return to Champions League contention.

"Kenny (Dalglish) has a special place with Liverpool but difficult to say if it was a good or bad decision to fire him," Hyypia said.

"In football that can happen and everybody has to accept the decision. Hopefully Liverpool can return to the state of 10 years ago."

And when quizzed on the issue of England international Andy Carroll, who does not appear to fit into Rodgers' plans, Hyypia said he would be more suited to facing the powerful striker than livewire Uruguyan Luis Suarez.

"I can't say I'm a fan of Andy Carroll but I can't say anything against him," he said.

"If I was thinking I had to play against a striker I would rather play against Andy than Luis Suarez. The type of player Andy is, that would suit me better than Suarez."

Sami can say as he wishes he has the freedom of liverpool a true legend. When he speaks all should keep silent .

so basically he's saying that the nicest thing he can say about carroll is that he's crap and well worse than suarez.
