id rather he go west ham than fucking newcastle. Im so praying that newcastle are a one season wonder. only problem ill be sick if i have to want west ham to win matches.

Fat Sam's preferred style would suit Carroll to a T but I can't help wondering whether living in the Smoke, with all its temptations, would undo the good work Carroll's done with us to get himself back on track. He could end up becoming their Torres. Besides, they could quite well go straight back down, in which case Carroll would come back to us having done his career, hence also his purchase price, no good whatsoever.

Don't think £18 mill.is enough anyway. £20 mill.and maybe we can talk.

dont think he's changed his lifestyle that much to be fair, the geordies are saying he's constantly in the toon clubs on a weekend

Oi! WHU. Noooooo!

I guess that helps communication, but nothing else, surely? If anything it would make the agent act more ruthlessly than usual.

Yeah, but you can guarantee his agent is thinking that he'll get more than one cut out of this deal though.

They've always said that even when its not true. He's cleaned up his lifestyle a lot from what i've heard. Still don't want him though as he's not good enough IMO.

I'd rather he signed for WH than Newcastle.
Its a decent deal and it will flush out Newcastles interest. Pardew should have kept his gob shut.
Fwiw I dont think West Ham will get relegated

It's a crap deal. I very much doubt he'd be worth any less than he is right now if we kept him a year, so the 16m guarantee ain't worth shit. As for the 2m now and the few million you save on his wages... What are you going to buy with that? Any other player who's any good will use all that up in wages, but you've added zero for the actual transfer... So it's utter utter bollocks.

Exactly.

It's a horrendous idea to loan him out, we probably can't afford to replace him unless we sell him.

I fully expect us to send him on loan and then start bidding for Danny Graham

And all this anti Newcastle stuff. I don't get it. It's like people getting angry at the dude who fucked your bird. It's the bird you've got a problem with, every dude wants to fuck her and it's her job to say no.

If the deal is a commitment to buy at the end of the season from WHU without a commitment to sell from us then I would be tempted.
If Andy were to have a storming season with the hammers then we could have a bidding war on our hands or even consider keeping him.
And if he is a flop we will be guaranteed a fee of £18m for a player who at that point would probably not generate a bid of £10m

Even now, after a relatively good finish to last season and a Euro 12, he is probably worth £20m at best.

Loaning him out would be stupid, I agree. Particularly if the payoff still means we end up taking a 50% hit on the transfer.

He could score 25 goals for them and at that point he'd be worth more than 17M. I'd be alright with it if they guaranteed 27M or something at the end.

That said, I'd be very surprised if we accepted such a crap loan deal. We haven't, have we?

Worth £20m to who? Top teams are moving away from players like carroll and the teams below them can't afford that much on one player. He'd suit a team like stoke or west ham but definitely not a top team.

Well seemingly he is worth £18m to West Ham

The bidding starts now. If Newcastle have some serious interest they'll bid.
Its a decent deal, but we can obvs do better.

He's gone though

West Ham are doing the equivalent of walking into DFS with a company credit card and buying a sofa for some offices that they know will probably be shut before the credit kicks in. They don't give a fuck about the price, only the deposit.

Only if they stay up. They know if they can survive the first season they will have a good chance of a long stay.

All i'm saying is that the andy carroll type footballer is becoming redundant as top teams want more from their front man than what he offers and we are aiming to become a top team again and won't get there with players like carroll. We need fluidity up front, not someone static with poor movement.

#LFC loaned Scott Carson to AVFC for a season for £2m - but AVFC decided against paying agreed £10m (from memory) fee to make it permanent.

There's too much bollocks in football for a contract like that to ever be a given. There will be other clauses, like he must score so many goals, he must not get caught with his pants down, etc. It's stupid.

Reportedly we're trying to free up 500k per week, we've lost Maxi and Kuyt and are probably open to getting rid of Aquilani, Cole, Carroll and Downing, I'd say two or three of those have to be off the wage bill, plus Doni aswell perhaps. Fair enough, but not this way. We may aswell just right him off and take £15m now, than fuck around for a year for the sake of his wages and a measly £2m which will get us no one.

Unless we can reinvest the money for him straight away we shouldn't even be contemplating it.

There's no money coming in from anywhere else and we'll be left with Borini, Suarez and possibly Bellamy, which is shit.

I think its 20M or he stays especially with Bellamy possibly going and the end of the window getting nearer.

Brendan back tracking a bit??????

BBC

Brendan Rodgers insisted any criticism of the player had been unfair earlier this week.
"Andy is a terrific young player," Rodgers said. "I had a brief chat with all the lads and over the next couple of weeks I'll be able to speak to them with more confidence and on a one-to-one basis.
"There is no doubt he is a terrific talent. There has been a lot of unfair criticism aimed towards Andy. He is a player who can play in a number of styles and it was a wee bit unfair on him to say he couldn't fit into the way I would want to play.
"We've got a number of very, very talented players in the group, of which Andy is one."

Wasn't he the one who implied it?

Why?

We get 2 million. Good
We get rid of his wages for the year. Good
We get 16 million when they stay up. Good

We'd get rid of his wages if we sold him outright, plus a fee to re invest..

With this proposed setup where is the fee to re invest ?

Even a commitment to buy is not concrete...

What if he gets injured, has a gash season, or WHU get relegated..

If he has to go. Sell him outright.. end of.... Where not going to become another club's safety net.. Fuck off..

Loan deals piss me right off and should be banned in this type of manor..

Should only be allowed to loan youngsters, and that's it..

No, he gave a vague answer about needing to talk to him to assess his position in the squad and then everyone assumed it was because he didn't think Andy would fit his style.
"There has been a lot of unfair criticism of Andy, there has been a lot of speculation in the press in terms of not being able to fit into my style of play. I think that's unfair. If a club spends £35 million on a player, you would expect that player to be able to fit into whatever style a manager will bring in.

That in no way implies it, in fact it implies the exact opposite.
