...is a beast.

Way back when the rumblings of Masher being wanted by Barca started, I said that the only player I could handle being here in his 'stead, was Toure.

That was when I (we) thought he was a pretty good holding midfielder.

Didn't he play centre-back v the Scum in Rome ?

And now, he demonstrates his ability to go a-raiding into the opposition's half/penno area.

He's fucking Boss !

But, but he's black and African...

They don't do well at Liverpool.

I'm still not convinced by him to be honest.

WHAT ?

What does he have to convince you of ? He's a beast of a player.

He is worth the money (whatever money that is).

I've been convinced by him for age, oh, I already said that.

Nothing anyone says matters.

I rate him.

I'm just saying...

He had many quiet, ineffective games for City last season and appeared to be a touch lazy/careless.
Granted he had some great moments as well - winner against United in the FA Cup semis and the winner in the final itself vs Stoke.

Suppose we'll see what he's made of when the pressure really comes on City later in the season.

Don't think he's a bad player or anything, far from it. Just not convinced he's top class.

He is a monster.

I'm ridiculously impressed how good he is going forward

Did I not say he used to play for Barcelona ?

EDIT: As a Monster holding player.

I'm pretty sure I made mention of the fact that he played at centre-back in a Champions' League Final.

EDIT: and held it THE FUCK DOWN !

*looks around in mock confusion*

Innit.

Freaked me the fuck out.

Killer.

He showed glimpses of that class going forward for Barcelona as well although his forays into the opposition penalty area was obviously rarer. I understand he was quite popular at Barcelona and there wasn't an issue of quality, it was just largely the emergence of Busquets and Guardiola's faith in him that saw him leave in the end.

I do have a little sympathy for what Gary25 is saying. When he's played further back in midfield, he does do a lot better with De Jong alongside him as opposed to Barry as he can be a little lethargic. Also, you have to note the massive massive difference between having him in that AM role and then someone top class like Silva.

He is a very good and versatile footballer though.

Yaya is indeed a monster. He used to tire a bit in games when he first got here, how's his fitness this year? I like how seems to just walk past players at times when marauding forward. Seems capable of playing in a number of positions, power, pace, good feet etc.

I liked him Barca too. Just shows how strong they are as an attacking unit when Yaya was their holding midfielder. Barca's ethos is to win the ball back asap so it makes defensive midfielders redundant at times. I think me and Keni we're very vocal about this during Mascherano debates. Some alluded to the fact he failed because he was 'found out' and on the bench. A good few on us insisted that it wasn't his talent that was holding him back at all. Barca can get away with deploying Busquets (who is excellent btw) as their holder as their attack acts as their first line of defense. The team as a whole harries and hunts in packs. Opposition teams more often than not surrender possession back to them which invites pn another wave of Barca attack. Masher is being played at CB now, i've seen Barca play a back three without a recognised CB and still breeze through games. Crazy.

Didn't Yaya stall on a new contract and kick up a fuss which was the catalyst to his move to City? Barca sold him for a big fee, bought Masher for a lesser fee and had Keita to call upon if needed so I presume their happy with the transaction. Another league and CL can console them if they had a fleeting worry they sold a very good player.. However, I'm taking nothing away from Yaya as a player, he's great. Apologies for getting sidetracked with that Barca wank fest.

If Man City sell every single ticket for every home game in an entire season they don't have enough money to cover Yaya's salary, that's what I mean by not worth the money. But money is no issue to City so who gives two shiny shites? Not me anyway.

Ha, I'm now going to associate Yaya with you now from this day forward. Every time he plays well i'll think of you.

*Goes back to list*

Brendan - Lucas (for the wrong reasons)
Ryan - Garcia
KHL - Agger
Modo - Cahill
Spidey - Babel

etc.
