The Frenchman moved to Russia in the summer of 2013 but Brendan Rodgers was keen to get him in the Premier League in the last window.

But Rubin manager Rinat Bilyaletdinov advised M'Vila to stay as he's only be backup at Anfield.

Bilyaletdinov said: "In January M'Vila behaved badly - one day he trained, one day he didn't.

"Maybe his agents had promised him something. He thought he was already in Liverpool.

"I told him: 'It is not your level. If you go, you will be on the bench'. He was very disappointed.

"Now I haven't seen him for a while. I have been told he is in France to cure an injury.

"Even if he is back to full fitness, I don't know where to play him."

Whether Rodgers will go back in for M'Vila remains to be seen.

The Kazan man is an exciting prospect but the club's current run of success and looming Champions League qualification could open up new, exciting doors for the Reds and they could have moved onto new targets.[/article]

If there is truth to this: Great that he wants to come to us. Less so that he manifests this desire by being a completely unprofessional asshole who we should run a mile from.

This. I rate him and I'd have been pleased if I'd found out that we were interested, but we've had enough of that kind of behaviour before.
 
i rate him, i think, but would he be a starter now that we've got gerrard performing so well in his deeper role?
 
The midfield is the least of our problems.
Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas and Allen can "fight" for those CM positions.
We've also got Suso and Teixeira on the fringes.

We could do with an attacking midfielder though, considering that we're being linked with several of them especially Rakitic.

Like I've said before, I'd be content if we manage to sign a top class or promising left back (I'm quite happy with Enrique), an attacking midfielder or "winger" and a forward who can play in all three attacking positions.

That's about what we need. Just look at the subs in our latest game:

Subs: Jones, Kolo Touré, Iago Aspas, Moses, Cissokho, Lucas, Allen

It's pretty obvious what type of players Brendan will look to sign in the summer.
 
Was against signing M'Vila a while back and am still against him.

Decent player but has a track record of off field issues & poor attitude towards training. He's been arrested for assaulting a 17 yr old, caught up in some prostitution scandal involiving a 15 year old girl.

The fact that the Zenit manager isn't even sure of his whereabouts (apparently in France) and stated how he refused to train upon hearing Liverpool's interest says it all. This is exactly what Hatem Ben Arfa did when he wanted out of Marseille. Both talented players, but attitude will prevent them from reaching the top.

He'll be our Sylvain Marveux I have no doubt about it.
 
He's average and completely overrated and offers no more to our team than Lucas Leiva already does. There, I said it.
 
Would have been pleased if we signed him in January but that time has come and gone now, its also clear now that Gerrard is more than capable in the DM role after a not really convincing at the start, with Lucas as back up to him that position is fine for next season.

I completely agree with Modo, Rakitic, Konoplyanka, and someone like Coentrao (aka a fantastic attacking fullback) would make for the perfect summer, and it doesn't seem that unrealistic an ask to me, add into that lot that we'll have Suso and Borini coming back who can bolster the squad, we'd been in great shape.

Agree completely. We can't let his performance aged 33 cloud our judgement into just taking as read we don't need another option for that position.

Considering we'll be in Europe next season (touches wood just in case) I don't think playing him in every game is an option, or indeed, is fair to him.
 
I don't know, as far as defensive midfielders go, I'm absolutely happy with Lucas there as cover, and Allen could be the third cover for that position.
If we want a deep lying playmaker, it's a different story but we'd have to spend big time to have a player that can perform at anywhere near Gerrard's level when it comes to finding the SASAS runs from deep.

Don't see how you can say that CM is the least of our problems. We have an ageing gerrard who can't play every week. Apart from him where are our goals coming from midfield? Hendo (who has had a great season) doesn't score enough and nor do allen, lucas and coutinho. Between hendo, allen, lucas and coutinho adds up to less than 10 premiership goals for the whole season. Rodgers said he wants more goals from midfield, so i can see him targetting at least 2 CM's. Suso and Teixeira will most probably get some cup games but they won't play very often in premiership games .

We need 2 fullbacks, 2 CM's and a winger/forward if we don't want to struggle with all the games we'll be playing next season. Oh and definitely another goalkeeper.
 
Junior: basically I want another Alonso - someone who can do all those things - so yes, I accept we'll have to spend big money. If we want to keep competing back at the top, we'll have to reckon with doing that on a regular basis.

But spend big on whom?
I know, that's what the scouts are for. But like we showed at Spurs and to an extent at City, the Gerrard replacement doesn't necessarily have to have the same qualities as him. I think teams like Barca and Dortmund, as well as the great Arsenal team of the past have proven that.
 
Let's say we do win the league. He doesn't sound like the type of player the champions would bring in.

Also, isn't he still wanted in France for solicitation of minors or something?!

CM is the least of our problems considering that we already have several decent players competing for those spots.
Yes, they don't score enough goals, but that's because they do a whole lot of defensive work.

How many left backs do we have when Cissokho leaves?

How many "good" strikers do we have when Aspas leaves?

How many wingers/attackers do we have when Moses leaves?
 
We have Coutinho, Teixeira, Alberto and Suso vying for the AM position.

Gerrard and Lucas for the DM position.

And just Hendo and Allen for the two advanced CM spots. Neither of them are world class, and nor is there is any strength in depth. We abso-fucking-lutely need a new CM.

Just as much as we need a new LB, a striker and a wing-forward.

Why use good and aspas in the same sentence? They're all useless players. And like i said we need 2 fullbacks (which covers the cissokho part), 2 CM's and a winger/forward(which covers both moses and aspas who are useless). Rodgers has already said he wants borini back and he's better than aspas easily. So another winger/forward would give us studge, suarez, borini, sterling and hopefully konoplyanka.

We need more goals from midfield and i can see rodgers going for players to resolve that problem as he has stated many times he wants goals from all over the pitch.
