Lampard's goal record is incredible ... As is Ronaldo's ...

Will Stevie get the goals necessary to over take those Mancs by the time his career ends?

I'd have thought he'd out-do both of the scummers. He's got a few seasons left in him from what he's been saying, and you'd have thought he's got at least 5goals a season in him regardless what midfield position he plays. And he takes our pens.

If someone asked to name the top scoring mids in a footie quiz I would never had guessed some of those names.... special mention to Bowyer and Kewell!

How about names you're surprised not to see?

I thought Ljungberg used to score a lot; turns out he's only got 46 for the Gunners.
Gary Mac used to score quite regularly, but if they're only considering Premier League goals and not the old Div 1 ones, then he's got 49 for 3 clubs (Leeds, Coventry, Liverpool), just missing the cut.

Well, it depends on whether they move to another league. Bale would be an obvious choice if he stays in the league and goes to the Mancs.

I'm a bit surprised he hasn't scored more, to be honest. If I'd guessed I would have had him higher up that list.

Yah - the question becomes if he continues it in his current role - which is definitely a striker.

Walcott?

I also think Mata and Hazard might have a crack if they stay long enough and keep up their form. Speaking of Mata, boy, 6 goals and 13 assists in the first season, now on 10 and 10 in the second. What a cracking player.

I dunno, the lines are a bit blurred right now between an attacking midfielder and a support striker, so if you count the goals for Gerrard, Scholes and Ronaldo, you'd have to count those for Bale probably?

Same for Walcott - is he a right mid or right wide forward? But yeah, I think he has a chance.

Scholes didn't score half of those goals from midfield I reckon.
He was basically a striker for the first 3-4 years of his Utd career.

Mata definitely if he stays for 6+ years

Hope you're doing the point to the sky celebration after that one ryan

Pats divine intervention again

Quite a few players like to dedicate their goals to Pat nowadays.

I'd go for the "Ketsbaia" myself. Best celebration I've ever seen.

Oh I just remembered another guy who was probably just outside the top 10 listed here. A true midfielder too, not like some of the guys who doubled as second strikers. Danny Murphy.

League goals:
Liverpool: 25
Charlton:7
Spurs: 2
Fulham: 17
Total: 51
