i thought he had a good game bar the header. one of our better players for sure.

x2

*fears a whoosh*

He is just lacking in any ability to turn up the tempo. Everytime the ball comes to him, he takes a touch and then looks for a 5 yard pass. He could never ping a pass off first time or look for a one-two with some movement. He is just so pedestrian and one paced it is untrue. And offers zero goal threat.

Lucas can be improved upon, so too could we improve on the staff that manned the back 4.

Lucas put in a good performance today. Him and Mascherano one of their better days in midfield for us. Unfortunately, Ngog is still developing and sometimes/most times lost the ball easily - though some will forgive because he is trying to make things happen by taking people on.

Midfield basically had to try and protect a shocking back 4 and supply a front line with a rookie leading the line.

Thought they did well considering.

The lack of investment in the squad has become even clearer given that all the injuries are showing it up.

Here's the thing...

He's been better this season, and he's no longer the worst player on the field... But he contributes so little when something's needed, THAT'S why I feel how I do. Like today - I am FAR, FAR angrier at his lack of marking on Ireland for their 2nd than I am for his glaring miss at the end.

It's not the miss that makes him shite, just like he wouldn't have proven all his nay-sayers wrong if he'd buried it. He cannot be judged, good or bad, on one moment, in one game. That's what all the "what about that pass V Newcastle?" crew don't understand.

Somebody earlier said it best - He's a passanger. And we need far more than that.

When the chips are down and we are struggling for form and points, you need much much more than Lucas. I would have started the Itai today.

Rafa thought he could do the job while Aquaman was recovering from his injury.
4-6 weeks they said, 3 and half month later he still hasnt started a match.

I cant blame the player really, I have been saying he's shite since day one.
Playing Lucas in a 4-2-3-1 with Mascher is a professional fault from our manager.

We need to buy a striker in January, back to 4-4-2 with Gerrard in the middle asap.
If he carries on like that Rafa wont even bring us CL football next season.
I strongly agree with you first two points.
I do not see Rafa reverting back to a 4-4-2 system anytime soon.

He's a fly buzzing around Michelin Star food.

We have a swarm of them at the moment.

He kicked the ball very well.

He was there. That's all he does, be there. in fact it should be his moniker.

Lucas: He Was There

Then again, it's not his fault that he's picked week after week.

His forward passes were very good.

He wasn't shit and I'm not a fan of him at all.

I'd give him a comfortable 6 if there was a ratings thread.

What a fucking shite thread.
Exactly.

We all know Lucas isnt great, and to be honest I just dont know how Rafa left him on for 100 minutes yesterday. However, once again we scored twice and still didnt win. Out main problem yesterday was shit defending, and I dont think Lucas can be blamed for that.

He can't run in a straight line well at all, he usually goes sideways, or around in a circle

He's making us a laughing stock

I reckon I could do what Lucas does and I'm fat, bald, shit and fucked up. Pay me money Rafa you deluded shit chooser.

Theoretically, maybe.

But it was Lucas who was tracking back with Ireland only to stop running with him outside the box and watch him waltz in, unmarked, to score their second. He was a large part of the blame for their 2nd, mate.

Lucas was one of our better players on the pitch yesterday. If some people took their blinkers off they might see that Skrtel was a joke for their goal and Insua cant hold an offside line.

Skyrtl was a joke for both their goals and you're right about Insua. Do you disagree that Lucas allowed Ireland to run, unmarked into the box to score?

I agree he let Ireland run

Yes, and no Rory.

He did let Ireland run, but I think the feeling was that he could afford to given Skrtel was there. At times, midfielders let others past them as they have to keep their midfield shape. Players pass other players on. Lucas did it earlier in the game when Agger was off injured, and Masher was filling in a right-back. Barry ran past him, and Lucas didn't go as it was then the responsibility of the defender (Masher at that stage) to tuck in and pick barry up. at the time Masher, being comepletely inexperienced in the role, missed out on it completely and Barry was totally free and unmarked (really clever play by Barry that actually).

Anyway, it's the sort of thing that happens a million times per game with zero consequences. Had Carra been playing in the centre, it would have lead to nothing cos he'd have either picked Ireland up, or done a better job in the Kygriakos-role and not let Tevez square the ball.

Midfielders can't just follow runenrs all over the park, at billions of stages in the game they pass oppositions players on, so as to hold shape. I blame Skrtel in this instance for not picking up Ireland quicker. Kygriakos was slightly at fault too for the relative ease Tevez (i think) had in getting the ball across the box.

It'll come across like I'm relieving Lucas cos I don't mind him I know, but I fully blame Skrtel.
