Oh for Christ sakes, I think you need to get off the high horse, and consider what his starting point was in 2012. He took us on leaps and bounds last year, and he's earned a Little faith. Same situation next year, and we can talk. Put that post in your pocket for 12 months. It's premature.

Yeah he took us on in 2012 when we were 7th, out of the Champions League and FA Cup finalists.

We've been found out to be the frauds Manchester United was purported to be. Honestly, we struggled throughout the vast majority of our unbeaten run to start the calendar year, but we found a way to get results... the match against Manchester City (and probably Tottenham) the only times we really impressed, and even then the performances were a long way off what we were accustomed to last season.

The biggest concern going forward is how we're going to fill the ever-growing number of holes in our side. A dominant central midfielder and proper goalscoring forward should be the minimum we bring in, but how are we going to afford them? And what about the holes at the back and elsewhere that need to be addressed.

Such a disappointment after last season... I still have hope we can go on to win the FA Cup, but it's going to be a big ask to erase the last two defeats in time for the midweek game at Blackburn. With us out of the mix for Champions League football and the scum almost assuredly back in, at least trophy to add to the cabinet would ease the pain a bit.

Until the last two games, the majority here were ecstatic ... 4th place! 3rd place! 2nd place! blah blah blah

I think Rodgers can get the best out of the players but in general is fucking woeful at in the transfer market.

It's right that he is under scrutiny.

I think he should be given another year, and the next time he is feeling given to make positive prgnostications, such as "we can finish second" he should be punched in his big fat gob.

I can't help but feeling that if Hodgson had read the fucking instructions for Studge none of this shit woulda happened.

FSG have got some very big decisions to make this summer. The whole transfer committee isnt working and we have to add some quality experienced players despite our focus on youth.

Its interesting to see the two different approaches FSG and Palotta have taken with Roma and Liverpool.
Roma have rebuilt their team with a brilliant sporting director while we have let a transfer committee decide.

In hindsight we should have had Rodgers working under a Sporting Director and gotten someone like Sabatini or Monchi. Our squad would look a bit different then I imagine but everything is easier in hindsight obviously.

Its not all bad with our transfers as we've signed loads of young promising players but we havent gotten our first choice targets and we've overpaid for several of the ones we have signed.
We've also pissed away loads of money and signed several players both pre Rodgers nad now that should never have been seen in a Liverpool shirt.

If reports at the time were accurate, FSG did want Rodgers to work under a Sporting Director (at least initially) and it was Rodgers himself who said he wouldn't take the job on that basis. I suspect the transfer arrangements we've now got (Rodgers + committee) were arrived at as a compromise between the two positions. Whether or not that's the case, they need improving - maybe Ayre's rumoured departure in the summer is partly aimed at that.

The risk Rodgers took in holding out against the appointment of a Sporting Director was that he would take the lion's share of responsibility for bad outcomes as well as good ones. Whatever happens this season, I think he's going to be given a firm requirement of 4th place or better next season in the league and I don't think he can really complain about it.
