That was the season that was

Not just this window. We had Aspas and Alberto the previous summer, Borini before that. We just cannot have consecutively shit transfer windows and hope to be near the top of the table.

We've had so many now at this point, I think the last good one was Rafas first one

When we're within inches of the top 2 again I'm sure it will be more to your liking on here. Everyone's entitled to criticise, though, after these two humiliating performances. What did you expect - a forum singing 'Happy'?

Something other than scapegoating the manager would be a great start.

In a way the attitude of potential signings matters more than how much money we spend. As good as Dalglish and Souness were, their will to win was arguably as important as their ability to play football. We need to bring in good players this summer but the squad needs more individuals who can't stand the idea of losing.

Damn right. That's what I've been trying to say all along. Attitude makes all the difference !

Well said !

Lovren, Lambert and Balotelli.

42 mill £ that gives us nothing. 25 mill for Lallana aswell is up for discussion obviously. Good player but overpriced.
I thought Lovren would bring the form he showed for Soton last season but that wasnt to be.

If we had taken a chance with Remy and not Balotelli you'd wonder if we'd have the extra 10 goals and 9 points.
In hindsight everything is obviously easy.

I think the loss of Suarez and the injury to Sturridge, followed by the club captains leaving announcement have probably effected our season more than perceived mistakes by the manager.

I think Rodgers has done pretty well given the hand he has had to play. There have been some pretty big changes at the club that are out of his control and I'm sure the owners will recognize that and continue to back him up.

That's a bit lame. Critical threads are one thing. Repetitive agenda driven drivel are another.

I don't see any agenda driving this thread. Name names, show how an agenda exists in all these multiple threads. Or alternatively, just ignore it all and drop this holier than thou routine, which is pretty laughable.

The anti anti Rodgers Brigade..

You want to take off your Red tinted specs for a minute..

Like it or not he has to take some critism.. At the end of the day he managed and coached the team to 2 consecutive humiliating defeats

We Started both games slowly, why was that?

It's been the same every season under Rodgers. His preferred style of football relies on constant movement and pressing, which is bound to make heavy demands on fitness, so I suspect they have to train with a fair amount of intensity right from the start of pre-season. Once players are used to it again after their holidays our fitness levels can then begin to give us an advantage, but we don't seem to reach that point much before Christmas.

It's been a disappointing season. The Suarez departure and the Sturridge injury has made life really difficult and it was always going to be a challenge to rebuild the team and perform strongly this season, however there are some major gripes to be had:

We knew Sturridge was injury prone and was unable to identify and lure any better strikers than Lambert and Ballotelli, who both may as well not be at the club.
Markovic has shown promise, but for £20M you would expect more, even in his first season.
The start we made was unacceptably poor and the persistence of Gerrard during that period has arguably cost us more than the defeats to Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Sterling debacle just refuses to go away, and everything indicates to him leaving the club.

It's not a great time to be a Liverpool fan right now. One things for sure, we need a really good window this time round as well as see vast improvement from the likes of Markovic and Lallana.

That's it, isn't it? An ambitious team just can't afford that amount of time to get it right. It was actually similar - not quite as bad but almost - with Rafa. Pako trained them hard in pre-season, they started looking really heavy-legged, and by November we started finding our momentum. I look at the almost obscenely big and expensive sports science team we've assembled and wonder why they can't come up with at least some modest improvements. This season we didn't just start flat, we also developed quite a few niggling injuries.

You're way off your compass there.

Criticism of the manager is fine. Constantly using any defeats as a reason to start pushing the Rodgers out agenda is ridiculous, and tiresome. The reason I come and stay here is we've all been through this so many items, we usually don't go so bi polar on these boards. Especially after such a positive stretch.

You call it holier than thou, I call it SCM schooled, with no tolerance for managerial mishmash muppetery.

Now pick up your pencil and go back to your notepad, scoop.

It's not red tinted specs it's called not being knee jerk mate every time we go through a bad spell, you have to start posts about the managers future. It's tiresome, and more like fans of a club that wears blue.

Happy to address managers mistakes, but he's earned my respect and he should have yours too. Tell us what he did wrong in the games and let's debate.

Hardly anyone agrees with you - stop it before you make a bigger fool of yourself.

Well spotted.

But let's list them: where are all these posts 'disrespecting' Rodgers and calling for his head? Come on, list your long list of offenders. Not anywhere else. Here. In this thread.

It's true what someone wise once said though. A person who thinks himself to be more intelligent than he actually is, is indeed a dangerous thing.

I agree with all of this besides the bolded bit. Its always a great time to be a Liverpool fan. And I do think we have a lot of good young talented players. And every year is new, I can't imagine that doesn't start to play dividends. Hopefully Rodgers can be more pragmatic earlier in the season and just win rather than being a muppet again until he finds what works. We need to add goals to this team again. Lets hope that is priority number 1. Henderson's improvement as long as the introduction of Can (even out of position) have been the highlights of the season. Sakho's establishment has been a close third.

Since when was having people agreeing with you, essential for having a point. I'm fine with continuing mate. I feel good on this one.

It's in the start of this thread and is playing on a trend from earlier threads a few months back when things weren't going rosy. Don't be disingenuous here. You're making a fool of yourself 😉

Good point mate. The worrying thing is that Rodgers teams are consitently slow starters and much better after Christmas.
From his Swansea days and every season for us bar one. Last year we were much better before Christmas and came an inch of getting the title.
The key for Rodgers must be to solve our slow starts to the season so you dont play catch up after Christmas.
Pre season training methods, to many new players etc.

In fact even last season we ground out 1-0 wins in the first half, which was obviously good but we didn't start really flying until after Christmas

I know we are 8 points back n all but ...

United have:

4 aways including Chelsea, Everton, Palace and Hull.

And three home left... two of which are against Arsenal and City.

There only gimme is West brom at home...

I ain't giving up shit yet.

Fuck that.
No way in hell are we finishing in the top 4..

We don't score enough goals for a start, which is a big big problem

Plus, in the big games Utd have actually done very well this season. There's no guarantee they'll do poorly in those games.
