Its being reported that Tevez is a done deal to stay at utd.
Thought it would be. Not at all surprising.
Disagree. Whatever the background to the negotiations, both Tevez and Joorabchian have seemed well jacked off with the way ManUre have approached this whole business. IMO there was genuine doubt from quite an early stage about whether Tevez would stay there (and of course we don't actually know yet that he's going to). I can't help feeling it's been our evident interest in him which has pushed the Mancs, albeit kicking and screaming, into honouring their agreement over his fee.
Yes and spending £25M on a player they already have. Thats the bit I like about it

Plus, if you're talking about players who are already established first-teamers at lower-league clubs, they're going to cost a lot of money (being English comes at a premium) and we're probably going to ruin them anyway by giving them only reserve and Carling Cup games. What's the point?
Thats a similar response to the one i was going to make. No disrespect to all the players Herr listed originally but not one of them would come to this club and get regular first team football to develop. Naughton and Delph are lads i think have a decent future but coming here now would be a bad move for them.

As for Moyes and signing the likes of Jagielka, Baines and Lescott, they haven't come cheap. It would swallow up alot of our budget signing promising english youngsters in the hope they make it. Baines was a major fuck up on their behalf anyway. They had him as a young lad and let him go because they didn't think he was big enough. They then had to pay a fortune to sign him again.
I would agree with most of what you said, but the fact is the changes are coming. Im not suggesting this to be nationalistic, im saying its a nescessity. If we dont do it now, were fucked in 3 years.
And quit focusing on the names i mentioned, ive already said they were just names to emphasise my point.
The next england generation are out there, we need to invest some time now discovering it.

Kia just wants the big money and as long as Utd are willing to pay that, I'm sure he'd come round. As for Tevez, he wants to be told that they love him and want him to stay. I'm sure he could be talked around by Kia and Fergie should the finances be agreed.

Anyway, I don't think Utd would have agreed to the Ronaldo deal without knowing they had adequate replacements lined up. I think Tevez would be one of the obvious ones.

Update from Shanks

We can't deny the fact that we spoke to Tevez's agent KJ because Rafa did, in all honestly we are interested and a question i have asked was can we afford him because i don't think we can.

The answer was yes, ideally we can and will buy Tevez if we can come to an agreement with his agent and its obvious he will come here, the question is were will he play i dont know, because its something i've been trying to work out since the enquiry.

I also asked why and how can we sign him and again i should of looked at the whole picture. We can't pay the 30 million up front for Tevez thats a fact although other clubs can i.e Man City, obviously it will have to be staggered payments of which KJ will have to agree to. Now this its were it gets clever, we have to have a business perspective in terms of shirt sales and merchandise, if we are to sign him, Ayre will do his estimated sums of potential sales and this is more clout in getting the owners to sanction it. I believe Rafa has asked for more money potentially to secure all his prime targets and it looks like he might get it.

Never mind shirt sales - if we sign Tevez, we should manufacture Ugly Cunt masks for Halloween.

I think this may be the quietest transfer window ever so far.
I expect the pace will pick up now the internationals are done.

Id honestly be happy with JUST tevez or Silva as our only key signing. Id also like to look to lower league youths to supplement our squad and build an english core for the future.
Im talking about players like:
Kightly
Cox
Addison
Paterson
Naughton
Delph
Ledley
they might not make it but theyre all late teens early 20's so we should easily turn a profit if they dont.
Pipe dreams eh.

Joe Ledley?

You've got to be fucking kidding.

Manchester City after agreeing £140,000 a week deal

Carlos Tevez is ready to stun Manchester United and sign for arch-rivals City.

The Argentine international will switch loyalties at the end of this month when his two-year loan at Old Trafford expires.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson contacted Tevez during last week to try to persuade him to stay with United. Old Trafford insiders fear that approach has failed. Fergie made the call on the eve of the announcement that United had agreed to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in a world record £80million deal.

Tevez was in Quito, Ecuador, on international duty with Argentina. He intends to take a family holiday and then accept a £140,000-a-week deal with City that dwarfs the contract offered by United.

It will be a bitter blow to United fans, who acclaimed the striker's hard-working style.

Liverpool have also made a late move in the Tevez race.

But their hopes of spreading a £25m deal over fouryears will not appeal to businessman Kia Joorabchian, who retains ownership of the player at the moment.

Joorabchian has a solid working relationship with City manager Mark Hughes. And the City boss said: "I admire Tevez as a player and I like the way he approaches the game of football - that's been recognised by most managers."

Hughes also insists his two Brazil internationals - Robinho and Elano - are staying at Eastlands. Robinho, signed from Real Madrid for a British record £32.5m, has hinted at a switch to Barcelona, while Elano has been linked with Inter Milan.

Hughes said: "Robinho says he's happy and wants to stay here and Elano is contracted for another two years."

BAH! well rather at city than manu

Just announced on SSN that representatives of Tevez to meet with Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea over the next two days.

So looks like Rafa still wants him.

My gut feeling is that his preference would be us but that the fee or the structure of payment wil be a stumbling. If we sign him and johnson and keep all our best players i would be happy with that.

Why would he only now open talks with the mancs?

Doesn't make sense. Sounds like his scumbag managment are trying to get a bidding war going. He'll go to City as they'll blow everyone else out of the water with the fee and wage package.

Sky Sports News understands that talks will begin with all interested parties hoping to sign Carlos Tevez on Monday and Tuesday.

Representatives of the Argentina striker will hold discussions with four clubs in the Premier League - Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Reports also suggest that one club in Italy and one in Spain are interested, although the Primera Liga side is not thought to be Real Madrid.

It is understood that Tevez himself will announce that he would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old joined United on loan in 2007, but that deal expires at the end of June and speculation has suggested that the forward is ready to turn his back on Old Trafford.

Conjecture has implied that Tevez could view City as his preferred destination, with rumour suggesting the Eastlands outfit are prepared to offer a deal worth in the region of £140,000-a-week.

If liverpool is an option for him i'm 100% convinced he'l join us. I think he'd be a brilliant signing, a real 'rafa' type player if ever there was one.

I'd rather Man Utd take up a fair chunk of their transfer budget buying player who's already a part of their side.

I don't think we can compete with the 140K a week City are rumoured to offer him, so he may well do a Barry and join them.
On a side note - imagine what this little auction will do to his (probably already inflated) ego...

I wonder how much the Chavs will be prepaired to offer him a week?

You'd think that with CL footy and the Salary, they'd have a good chance of getting him to sign.

He's also far more likely to play every week at City.

Maybe that will be the deciding factor mate.

It just seems a strange choice to opt for City if that is the case. It seems the lad can take his pick from us or the scum, yet choose to go to City.

If he has any interest in winnin anythin in the near future he wont join city. If hes only interested in money he will. I think he would be very interested in joining us because of the spanish element, not to mention that hes mates wit mascerano, plus he'd probably get around 100000 a week and be playin champions league football.
