According to the oracle that is SSN, we're Tevez's last choice out of respect to the mancs. Does that means they know who his first choice is?

Daft twats. I love how they're always looking for a negative angle about us.
Basically what he said was that out of loyalty to the manc fans, we would be his last choice of the four. He also said that going to City would not seem as bad because at this time they will not be challenging for the league or CL.

I cant see a lot to argue with there
why talk to liverpool at all?

I'l bet that means We're his first choice but that hes trying, but failing, to appease united fans. That or its all made up crap.

Wasn't the 25 mill just the fee that was agreed with the mancs?

Once he's out of that arrangement they'll be able to negotiate a higher fee, not to mention stupid wages, which is where City come in. I think they'd pay what it takes to get him as he'd be a marquee signing.
I think the deal with the mancs was more possibly £30 million?
That included the two season loan deal. No one really knows the exact figures.
This reminds me of "A whale's vagina."

Gill stated in public that the figure was 25m on their option for him.

United can't control who he negotiates with because they don't own him.

This was an actual statment from Tevez?

Using that reasoning, he wouldn't even hold talks with us.

I don't think he'll come but SSN are just making shite up again.
Did I say it was an actual statement from Tevez? The guy on SSN , or "daft twat" as you call him, was merely calling it as he sees it.

I can think of plenty of reasons.  Because Rafa's already shown an interest before; because of Mascher, Rafa himself and the whole Spanish influence; because our league position last season, and Carvalho's departure (which will hit the Chavs hard), suggest we're better placed to win things than Chavski - and definitely better placed than Citeh. Saying what he's reported to have said, IF he said it at all, could easily be a smokescreen - otherwise why risk naffing off one of your options like that?

I think Niels question was more along the lines , if that were the case Why talk to Liverpool at all, and he must be talking as we are a viable option.

exactly. if he gave a shit about what manu or their fans opinion then why talk to liverpool at all, its not like he 'has' to.

I am with the, perhaps somewhat starry eyed, brigade that think he will end up with us, I always have done.
I believe we tick the boxes, and I too don't think he is particularly money orientated or he would not have limited his options, I think Kia would not lose any sleep over a few million just to show the Mancs they should not fuck about and try reneging on agreements. I also think the City link could be to put people off the scent until it is all done and dusted to save a load of shite.
My only concern to it happening is this bit of uncertainty over Mascher.
As Ross says, he is only on loan so can negotiate a permanent move with whoever he wants, but is theirs until the end of the agreement.

Oh ! Did I miss that out, yes, I meant to say, even if it meant paying £5m too much it would be worth it to have the Mancs wingeing

left of an attacking front four, not to be confused with a left sided winger.

I think he could be considered a bit of a square peg, but ideally as we've said we need someone who can play upfront and wide, as cover and on a regular basis in one of the wide roles. That way we have Torres, Tevez, Kuyt and Babel who can all play between those three striker roles (and Gerrard and Yossi for the 'hole').

I think that's fairly ideal and it frees us from having to fork out on both a wide man AND a striker, particularly if money is as tight as suggested. Then having someone like Riera in reserve or as another viable option gives us that bit more strength in depth too.

tevez on the left of a front 3 behind torres won't work. if he has a place it's instead of kuyt.

he's a good player but he won't complement what we already have - i'd rather see someone with more guile on the left that will work will with the industry of kuyt on the right.

the sooner he goes to city to sooner rafa can concentrate on a genuine upgrade on riera.

Pandev is a lazy 'superstar', that is either fantastic or horribly shite. He plays as a striker or in the hole. Obvs got talent, but I really dont think he'd be right for us.

As for Tevez, the only club agreeing to pay the whole fee in one installment is City. The deals proposed shouldnt inflict on Tevez choice. I guess it all comes down to if hes a money grabbing whore or has some passion and ambition.

It may well be that due to Citys ability to pay up in one chunk means Joorabchain will push him their way... but then again we coughed up for Mascherano, we have succesfully dealt with him before.

Now maybe there is something in the Liverpool Man U rivalry aspect which will prevent him from shittting on the affection he recieved from their fans... fuck knows... but If he is ambitious as he says he is i think we are the right choice for him.

I think he is a better player than he really got chance to show last year... a touch of the keegans about him

Oh, and furthermore, how can we afford him? If we're spending £17m on Glen Johnson, we'll only have about £3m of our summer transfer money left, won't we?

How do you know we have 20mil to spend this summer? You don't. We have more than that plus we will have more if we sell Babel, Dossena etc.

I don't think we're seriously in for Tevez and Rafa is content to let the speculation run to cover his real targets aswell as bump the price up for everyone else.

I think he'll spend whatever he has left on a left sided player and look to bring in a cheapo striker, or maybe even bump Babel up to cover for Torres.

So where does that leave N'Gog? Yes i agree Rafael is not looking at Tevez but he is looking for an attacking midfielder, Lavezzi who can also play anywhere upfront. Silva also on the list.

Butlins?

Seriously, he might go out on loan or stick around as cover. It's not like he's pushing for a starting berth is it.

I think he desperately wants Silva and it's a case of seeing how much he can raise through sales and whether the lad himself prefers Madrid.

Buying players is not an exact science. If you miss out on one of your main targets you have to reevaluate your options depending on the players available.

It depends on who we sign this summer. If we can get another good striker to partner Torres he will probably go on loan but if we don't i'd rather him stay with us.
