As i'm a newbie I'm obviously not sure how reliable Mark is, I'm guessing he seems a reliable source judging by peoples reaction.

Mark's been right about stuff more often than anyone else

Hhahahaha.

Terrible isn't it? Any new member is automatically suspected of being Momo.

Mind you, this lad probably is him.

Liverpool fall behind in race for Tevez

By Ian Herbert

Tuesday, 2 June 2009

Liverpool's negotiating position has placed them behind Manchester City in the pursuit of Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez. Rafael Benitez does not appear to be willing to match the £25.5m the Argentinian's representatives are seeking from United for the settlement of the loan of the player, under a deal which expires at the end of this month.

The wages being offered by City are also superior to Liverpool's which would seem to make them a prime contender for his services. Chelsea and Real Madrid are also understood to have matched the requirements of the investment consortium, headed by Kia Joorabchian, which holds the player's rights – though Chelsea's pursuit of Kaka reveals that Tevez could not expect to command the regular first-team football which he so craves.

Tevez surely has a lot of power in this transfer. he could for example let his contract with United expire and then sign a contract with them (he'd be a free agent) or another club and let the courts settle what is owed to Kia because technically from July 1st he has no contract with a football club!

If you were Tevez you would be saying no to City and pushing to stay at United or go to Liverpool forcing Kia to lower the price or face a stand off. I'm not sure if he will slavishly follow what he is told like Rosco suggests, well anything can happen but it would surprise me.

He's off to City, apparently.

well if we don't get him i'd much rather he ends up at City

but I still don't think it's likely, a few people are taking it as fact and i dont think it is (yet) everyone seems to think its definitely happening after a News of the World story on Sunday, they're just negotiating and I reckon there would be some way to go. a bit like all these twats supposedly joining Liverpool because their agents say so, apparently we're being turned down by loads of players when we were never in for them in the first place and the media just take it as read.
I doubt that anyone's basing it on the NotW story.
oh yeah? so why the flood of speculation after Sunday and nothing beforehand? because of the News of the world, its got round the world by now and become accepted as fact but it's not done and dusted or anything, if it was they would have announced and far more reputable places like BBC would be informing us.

Last proper story I read on this quoted Tevez saying he wouldn't be making any decisions until after the qualifiers (June 10th)

something not in a tabloid and repeated in gossip columns like an echo chamber

remember, City thought they had Kaka in the bag too and it was being reported as fact. chances are they will say No to them

You're right to point out that some are getting ahead of themselves, but I'd still say Tevez is most likely to end up at City.

From the odd Tevez soundbite I've come across, it's clear he's most motivated by the belief he should be starting every game for his side and appreciated as a special footballer. He's far more likely to do that at City than at Anfield or Old Trafford, whilst picking up at least 50% more wages every week.

It's a very different scenario to the Kaka non-transfer.

Kia's a money hungry scumbag + Tevez trusts him blindly + City more money than sense

= Tevez signing for City.

If anyone is interested in what the bookies think these are Skybets current odds as to where Tevez starts next season.................

Man City 5/4
United 9/4
Liverpool 4/1
Real madrid 8/1
16/1 Bar.
Now the odds are.................

Man City 4/7
United 11/4
Liverpool 6/1
Madrid 12/1
25/1 Bar

It seems like the bookies have made their minds up.

Manchester United reportedly agreed to pay £25.5m for Carlos Tevez in a meeting with Kia Joorabchian on Wednesday.

Chief executive David Gill met with Joorabchian for two hours and reports suggest United are finally prepared to pay the price agreed two years ago at the start of the Argentine's loan spell.

Joorabchian will now talk to Tevez, who is on international duty, but there are suggestions he will snub United to join Manchester City for higher wages and more first-team football.

The Daily Telegraph suggests that City are prepared to pay Tevez £130,000 a week and meet the £32m asking price - a deal obviously more attractive to the Argentine's owners.

City boss Hughes has admitted his interest in Tevez, saying: "Carlos Tevez is a good player and, when good players become available, obviously every manager is interested."

Yeah, I saw that too. Wonder if Tevez is too naffed off with them to want to stay though. Joorabchian won't give a stuff either way if the money's on the table from both clubs.

brilliant news. if he stays they spend 25 million and don't improve the team, if he leaves their rivals think they've got one up on 'em and they're less likely to go out and buy too many more strikers.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jun/11/carlos-tevez-alex-ferguson-manchester-united

Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have failed in a personal attempt to persuade Carlos Tevez that his future remains at Manchester United after he telephoned the 25-year?old striker to speak to him directly.

The Argentinian, who has become disillusioned at Old Trafford, is considering his options, including a potential move across the city to Manchester City, although that is said to be "only one of a few options" he is weighing up. He is also said to have been nonplussed by Ferguson's intervention after a source close to him said: "You treat someone badly for a whole year, you don't make it up with a telephone call, right?"

The forward is unhappy at United because he believes that he should have been considered the automatic first-choice by Ferguson for the majority of United's high?profile games last season. Tevez is also thought to be bemused that Ferguson is now seemingly keen to make him feel wanted only at the point where he may leave the club.

Tevez is in Quito for Argentina's World Cup qualifier with Ecuador, following which his advisers "will start talking with different clubs", the source confirmed. "It should take two to three weeks for Carlos's future to be finally decided." When asked about moving to City, the source said: "It's an option. But no one option is more serious than another – City, Chelsea, Liverpool: they're all options." The source also confirmed that staying in the Premier League is the "first choice" for the Argentinian, who is reportedly also attracting interest from other European clubs.

Asked if the forward, who has scored 19 goals in the Premier League since joining United two seasons ago, might still stay at Old Trafford, the source said there "is always a small chance" in football. Would Ferguson, then, try to personally intervene again? "Who knows? It's up to him."

Looks like we're in with a shout.

we really should go all out to get him even if he ends up being the only signing this summer and keep our fingers crossed we get lucky with injuries this season.

Any idea who our No 1 target is then if Tevez is gone?

Oooh, that'd be good. Maybe we could part-ex him for Benzema?

*dreams*

Thats all I know lads,Tezez alledgedly had this medical over a week ago,Who are we signing?

I wish I knew because its getting everyone down at the moment.

I think this may be the quietest transfer window ever so far.
I expect the pace will pick up now the internationals are done.

Id honestly be happy with JUST tevez or Silva as our only key signing. Id also like to look to lower league youths to supplement our squad and build an english core for the future.
Im talking about players like:
Kightly
Cox
Addison
Paterson
Naughton
Delph
Ledley
they might not make it but theyre all late teens early 20's so we should easily turn a profit if they dont.
Pipe dreams eh.
