Clyne gives width anyway, regardless of how effective his attacking play is. He's technically very able but sometimes looks clueless in the attacking third.

Clyne normally looks terrified of having the ball in the final third. The only thing he can do, having provided the width, is to pass back. He makes great runs behind the defence which is great but his final ball’s shite.
I’d rather have a better footballer (but at the moment inferior defender) that makes us play good football, and is ever improving defensively, than one who tends to stop good attacks and who’s best days are likely behind him.
