Suprising Stat of 2015

That's a bit myopic, completely ignoring the times he cleared the ball or collected it well, or the couple of good saves he made. He made a few top drawer saves against Leicester too. I'm not dressing him up as something he isn't, everyone knows what his shortcomings are, but saying he's definitively no good and siting one lapse as the reason why, is nonsense.

Mark, with respect, isn't saying 'ignoring the times he cleared or collected it well' myopic? That is his job. It is his primary function, and yet he doesn't do it with anything like enough frequency. I know he is a 'good shot stopper', but that is about 20% of goal keeping. Answer yourself yes or no to the following questions, Does he command his area? Is he a good distributer of the ball? Does he communicate well with his back four? I can't see a yes answer to any of those questions which in my mind makes him an average keeper at best, and definitely not good enough for Liverpool FC.

So you've moved from "He's not very good. Full stop." to "He's average".

Either way, he isn't good enough to be our number one. Does that clear it up for you?
You can say that about a lot of our players that play in key positions.

Fundamentally, he's not the first to be replaced but should be in the long run.

Agreed, but this thread is about his clean sheet record and I just think it is a stat you can't have too much faith in.

Why not? He was in goal for those 16 clean sheets. No one can deny that. Nor can anyone reject the idea that he's a world class shot stopper. Obviously it doesn't tell the full story since his command of the defence isn't his strongest point nor his actions against corners or other set plays. Fortunately, it would seem, Klopp is training him for the latter so it's about getting his confidence up to lead his defence.

To me, Klopp has a plan hence why he's saying his keepers aren't a problem so if we have funds in January then spend it elsewhere like a DM - obviously if the plan doesn't work out then Ming would be gone.
