CL Table and Final 16

Ffs. That’s simply not true. Three times ever has that happened for an English side. It’s infinitely harder for English teams than German or Spainish.

We should be striving for the league and that’s it this season.

Don't care if it's harder or not, we have the capacity for it. Injuries and major decisions aren't going against us like they were last season. Already booked 1 final. Leading the race in another by 8 points.

Inter and Bayern are both shite this season. Barca winning is a gimme.
How? Bayern have the best XI bar Madrid on paper and are flying in the Bundesliga. Inter matched Barca's CL phase despite having a harder draw and conceded 1 goal in 8 games.

There are faults in this Barca side, it's not 2010.

Bayern were almost taken to Extra Time over two legs by Celtic FFS ! They needed a 94th minute winner. That's how good they are.

Inter are (were last week) 4th in the Scudetto and we know how good Italian teams are this season.

Ah yes, because judging a side over 2 games is the be all and end all isn't it - how predictable that was. Incredible how Atalanta needed ET to knock Sporting out last season......that is right before they came to Anfield and beat us 3-0. I know, astonishing isn't it?

How could Inter have been 4th last week if they're currently 8 points above 4th placed Juve and are 3 points above 3rd placed Atalanta who actually gained a point over them in the last round of fixtures? They were 2nd last week and still remain. You're smart enough to work these things out Froggy.

Now should we move back to Barca who've lost more games domestically than both Bayern and Inter? "Oh but La Liga is a much tougher league"....ok, they lost at home to Leganes & Las Palmas when they were in the relegation zone. Barca have already drawn 2-2 at home to a lesser Italian side. Barca have conceded 4 goals to Benfica, who let's not forget were robbed of a stonewall pen at 4-4 to win the game before Barca went up the other end.

PSG frequently fail to be able to match the top level in the CL, arguably because they're used to playing semi-pro footballers most weeks. Honestly, having to play Brest will have done them no favours as they prepare to face us. Goes without saying that Dembele and Kvaratskhelia against our non-existent flanks will be terrifying. Elsewhere we can match and surpass them. One thing is that they are in a position to rest their players ahead of our games. 10 points clear in the league, whereas Slot is running us into the ground and doesn't have the same luxury.

The main reward for finishing top, it seems, is playing at Anfield in the second legs in all of the ties. For us, that's a sizable factor.

Bottom line is playing Villa and then PSG to reach a semi-CL final is fair enough, they just look like they're in the wrong order. It's a ball ache Madrid is on the cards.

If we reach quarters, we play at Anfield first? Villa Park 2nd (if they beat Brugge).

Last 16, semis and finals, we'd have the (2nd leg privilege) and "home" advantage.

Some twattish TikTokker said if we top the league all second legs are at home to the final. Sounds like he's chatting out his arse.

Yeah, I thought that was the case too (as I read it on here).

Until I saw them explaining the draw today and there was no mention of it, and they drew out the home teams until the final.

So we COULD be looking at Arsenal (CL), Chelsea (PL), Arsenal (CL), Arsenal (PL) in April / May.
Alternatively, Madrid (CL), Chelsea (PL), Madrid (CL), Arsenal (PL), with Arsenal only playing Bournemouth at home in that period with a week's rest before they play us.

I think we've got the tougher half of the draw but then... IF we can get past PSG, which I think we defo can, then I'd fancy us more strongly against Villa or Bruges.

Semi against Real? Assuming they get past Atleti... But then I'm not so sure Arsenal won't be desperate for something and they can play so... It's an odd one...
