Stoke Vs Liverpool Match Thread

The youngsters looked like junior players. Struggled, look lightweight and we kept on playing the ball above their head which obviously didn't help. But the Stoke guys didn't look to worried about them. They neither werent close to out any pressure on Stoke when they had the ball, but these things is not something you can read about, you need to spend time on the training ground as a unit and we have not done so with these guys in leading roles.

However after a schocking start er slowly became warmer as a team and I believe that both would have har better second halves than first halves if they har continue. The way it turned out they got a taste of the action and responsibility and it will do them good.

Did anyone else think "Firminoooooooo fantastic goal and WTF DID YOU HAVE TO RIP YOUR SHIRT OFF AND GET ANOTHER BOOKING FOR?". He's got a surprisingly poor record with yellow cards and needs to work on that.

Any player dumb enough to do it should be fined. Absolutely ridiculous. It's not like the rule just came in. He must have been a fucking foetus when the law changed. Great goal, utter dillweed.

He looked every inch a 17 year old, outpaced by Shawcross and having to dive to cover lost possession.

Agree. He doesn't look quite ready to compete from a physical point of view.

Looks decent technically but thus far just have to rely on the better judgements of others as to his quality.

Where is he actually going to play? Looks well short of pace and positional knowledge when pushed into service out wide (not unreasonably), so I'm assuming he should be looking to play #10....somewhat difficult when we play a #10 at centre forward...

Yeah, it was definelty a "WTF not again" moment. But I can forgive him regarding yesterdays emotions. Just dont do it again.
I'm sure most people will have read by now that it's the 7th time in 5 seasons he's been booked for the same thing.

Ming has generally been very good this season. He has had a couple of clangers, but every keeper has those over the course of the season. His distribution is also coming along nicely.

Most keepers have clangers which don't lead to lost points. I see no evidence of an upturn in distribution decisions, but I guess it's subjective.

Well this is it, he's clearly not a prodigious talent like that, or he's taking longer to show it. The run he went on where he shrugged Johnson off the ball, that was encouraging, he got the ball stuck under his feet a bit which was unfortunate, but he seems to have a maturity about him when he's on the ball, he's fairly composed and knows when to lay it off, he's also delivered some great balls in from wide areas, even if he clearly isn't completely comfortable playing out there. There are good signs technically, I think he just needs to show more of a selfish willingness to be a bit braver and to have a crack at goal. Origi does it and often gets it wrong, but at least he tries to make a yard for himself to have a shot, even if it's often a bit ambitious with better options around him.

A bit harsh, barring Owen, how many 17 year olds have we had than burst onto the scene and made an impact straight away? Let's not forget he is 17 and we do expect a lot from him when he comes on.

What's harsh? I was completely complimentary to him.
